i was there.. and thought he held the ball up fair well apart from that nobody played well.. 10 men being a lone striker is always gonna be tough, that being said - cms made some very good runs today

Admittedly, he wasn't as impressive as against Arsenal, but the same could be said for the rest of the players.

Also consider that he has just arrived from Spain. It's going to take time for him to adjust to things. He still had some good moments in the game before he was taken off.

I really hope fans aren't too quick to judge him.

Ulloa showed some good touches early on but then got roughed up by their defenders.

He probably earned his own yellow card before clearly getting a final warning and don't think Gus had a choice but to take him off. Ulloa and CMS had looked promising together but they way the game was panning out for us he looked at risk for a red card.

Give Ulloa a few more games and he could be ok.

He did alright I thought. Some very good touches but he's not yet on the same wavelength as the other players; needs a couple more games I think. The beginning of the 2nd half when CMS came on they looked very dangerous.

4 games at ANY level to get fully match fit, some of you should play the game sometime

Absolutey this. I played a full 90 minutes in an 11 a side game today to "help" a team out for numbers and it is absolutely knackering. 2-2 draw and I wasn't directly to blame (I played at left back) for either goals so I'll take that.

It is so much harder than you realise, without playing the game yourself.

Didn't Gus say he subbed him because the ref was on his back, therefore preventing another sending off ??

In the 1st half he was subjected to several pushes in the back and general rough stuff which was ignored by the ref and lino. When he decided that if they could get away with it he tried the same and free kicks were given against him. He was given a talking to by the ref who gave him a final warning. Lo and behold in the 2nd half there was an innocuous challenge for a header and a Wednesday player went down like a sack of spuds and he was given a yellow card , Gus had to sub him otherwise we would have gone down to 9 men before the final whistle.

I agree that unless you've seriously played the game its easy to underestimate the fitness levels required. But also Ulloa needs pitch time not only to get 'match fit' but also get a proper chance to develop an understanding with the players and our system, plus how the game is played here.

BTW it sounds like you need to follow your own advice and spend less time on NSC (12,000 posts....) and get yourself match fit too if you're going to play proper footie. Ha ha.

I have played with Darren Freeman and Ross Johnson and i know what they both required to get to the levels they played at.

A sheffield Wednesday supporting mate of mine who was at the game said Ulloa was absolutely dire today. When told how much we paid for him he also burst out laughing.

Was he really that bad??

Wasn't bad at all, it does take a bit of time to get used to the hustle and bustle of the championship. His link up play is excellent but with no winger to knock the ball on to he was left a little isolated. When he and CMS were playing at the same time they were pulling the Wednesday back line all over the place, lets hope that happens more often.

And tell your mate they are officially the worst footballing side I've seen this season and will be lucky to stay up.

Sounded like he did O.k., but with Wednesday outdoing us in midfield he struggled to get in the game.

I just don't get it,we have 5 in Midfield always, yet get out played, perhaps we should look to seriously strengthen this area.

Perhaps then we would dictate and create.

I think we rely too much on Liam Bridcutt (my fav Albion player btw)-i personally think Liam to some degree dictate's Gus's options too-perhaps the best thing today would have been to have Liam sent off (crazy?) well then it MIGHT? force a system change from Gus and perhaps we might see 2 up top.

Yeah, I think that was the idea with Crofty and Hammond, trouble is I think both are pretty good players and pretty strong. We need someone in that area of the park who is both a very good player, and very strong.

Looks like you weren't at the game, not listening to the radio nor looking on the web site. Bridcutt was subbed at half time for CMS - so we just played 45 mins with 10 men and drew 1-1 - it can be done ....

Bridcutt was probably our best player in the first half - haven't yet found out whether he was injured or it was tactical.

We are better in there,no doubt, perhaps we need 2 defensive midfielders, 4-2-1-3 Would love to see Vicente as the 1 (if he stays fit from now on).....
