As a WSU season ticket holder I was impressed how many seats were sold in the East today. Pretty full up apart from the lower end near the away fans. Great effort

I was at the game and new it was quietish but god, it sounded like a morgue on ITV just now.
Thought we sounded good on TV today. Lived in ESL last season and ESU this season and nobody glares at me when I join in with singing. I'm of the belief that the acoustics only let you hear those around you and not those in the other stands, unless they are very loud.

You say that but the only time today the West sounded truly incredible was when they sung that - what a roar it makes. It even woke up the Geordies and prompted them to do a bit of singing themselves.
I was block G was very loud and we had the space to do a little conga at the end.
I would challenge anyone to say the family stand has no atmosphere, its brilliant with the kids enthusiasm.
For a change us six went in North today from East Upper-------------------absolutely brilliant --never stopped singing from start to finish despite manflu. Very sweary tho
We were in the East Upper as well. Never been there before and I was fully expecting to sit there in respectful silence like I do in East Lower. Well I was wrong. Good atmosphere, lot of people singing and in our area, despite the 'Marie Celeste' reputation not ONE person left before the end (except two who were thrown out by the stewards for having an argument). Nice lot of swearing as well which is always good to hear at football.
North Stand were good and heard the South Stand occasionally as well. All in all this was easily the best atmosphere for me this season (I'm only a occasional attendee). Seems like us part-timers, day-trippers and curiosity seekers are FAR better supporters than a vast numbers of STHs! *binfest alert*

Well yes, by definition. 'Fan' is short for 'fanatic' and someone who just sits and watches is obviously not being 'fanatic'. There's nothing wrong with it btw, it's just nice for me personally to be in with Brighton 'fanatics' as opposed to sitting with people who are just there to watch football. As I say I was very pleasantly surprised with the East Upper, not sure what it's like for the mundane league games.

I must admit i was worried that the atmosphere in the NS might be a bit quiet with so many ST's not attending. However a lot of ST's that normally sit in the other stands came into the NS for a change, made for a good atmosphere actually. Nice one.
Being a fan does not mean you have to sing!
As a passionate member of the East lower I enjoy the singing from all sides and sometimes join in when caught up in the moment but if I wanted Sunday singing I would go to church or join a choir!
The Newcastle fans were very vocal earlier in the game and from where I was sitting which admittedly was fairly close - they outperformed the North stand until the game turned against them! I looked across and most of the NS were standing quietly with arms folded so I am sorry - 'you are not all that'
As for criticising others for not singing (how sad) perhaps you would be far better putting your heads together to find some new material, as we have a reputation for poor singing but maybe the many absentee members from your area were already doing that at another venue - church maybe?
