I tried a pre-booked coach from Peacehaven a few weeks. I know its only a tiny distance. Got to say it was brilliant. Confirmed seat there and back and no crush at the end of the match.

I usually cycle but decided to treat myself.

Got to Brighton station about 10 last night and saw the westbounds were completely banjo'd, so I wandered down to Churchill Sq and got a Coastline bus back to Portslade, home by about 10.50 so not too bad at all. I've done this a few times now when I've just not fancied the queue at the station. And it always aggravates me getting on to travel 1 stop to Hove then getting off again.
I do feel sorry for you folk who come from further afield and rely on that train "service" though. The coastline buses are a pretty good alternative for me, although strictly speaking I'm not actually sure whether they're supposed to accept the season ticket as fare or not ? I've had to blag it a couple of times with the driver, but there was loads of us last night so she just let us all on without question.

I think they must be as the bus travel area extends to Worthing and that is the only bus you can get from Worthing to Brighton.
Shoreham is a reasonable option to change from car to public transport if coming from the West, in that you have both the trains and the S Bus. However last night the S bus was also shite. We left on the final whistle and still missed the first run of buses. It was nearly 10:30 before we set off on the convoluted bus route.

Yes they do pick up in Havant. For example 15th December against NF, pick up is at 12:15, Market Parade
The cost is 13.50 return. It would stop all the hassle of the train then.

I wonder how Adur would react to a request to use the new training ground as a Park&Ride site ? I personally would love this as it would be so much quicker than the current rambling bus service. My guess is this will happen, once the site is up and running and the nimbys have piped down.
For midweek games we drive from Southampton to Barnham and get the 5.29 which gets in at Brighton at 6.18.
Southern now have a Lewes train that leaves from platform THREE, meaning we don't have to scrum down with everyone else on the other side of the station.
It means we get to the ground at about 6.45 but that's a small price to pay.
After the game we have to leave about 3/4 mins early to get the 9.45 into Brighton.
That's when the problems start. We have to go all the way round the back of WH Smith to join the queue for the 10.03 which for some strange reason seems always to be held back. Last night we were lucky and got on and despite crawling through Hove, Portslade and Shoreham, we were back at Barnham at 10.50.
The 10.14, change at Hove routine is shit though.

Did anyone on here get the 22:55 Brighton to Littlehampton service ? The driver was giving everyone a laugh with his commentary on certain places and things ....e.g. how he was thinking of buying a houseboat at shoreham .....

When we saw the developing chaos at Brighton Station, we did the same and headed to Churchill Square to try our luck with a bus back to Shoreham. The bus turned out to be a pleasant experience - 10minute wait for it to arrive and a seat. The driver was a little surprised to see 20-30 Brighton fans waiting but knew what to do when we showed our season tickets. She pressed a "special" button on her machine and issue us all with a BHA ticket with a cost of free. (A guess this is how they claim the money back??). In the end I walked in my front door @ 23:20, which is only 20 minutes later than normal.
Well done Coastway Busses. British Rail - a complete shower of a service. (It took an hour for me to get from Brighton Station to the ground as well - only just made kick-off)

Why 2203 only has 3 coaches, I'll never know. Surely there's plenty of those crappy, toiletless carriages kicking about at that time of night.

Dream of a journey home for me. Pint in the East Lounge after the game, in the warm watched the highlights. Straight onto the 2225 to Lewes with no queue, straight onto the 2240 to Victoria. Coach to Stansted airport, slept on a comfy bench overnight and early flight home to France. Having a cup of tea with the missus by 10am.

I tried the Racecourse P&R last night for the first time and although parking in a muddy field wasn't a great deal of fun with my car sliding all over the place, I left on full time, got a P&R bus to the racecourse and then drove along the coast and back in the Buckingham in Shoreham for a pint at 10.15pm. I might change my choice of P&R in future to the Racecourse which doesn't appear to be used so heavily.

Yep and have to say they did explain the short platform syndrome well..................got home to Midhurst at 12-15, i park in Shoreham. Usually P&R Mill Road and this was only the 3rd time have used the rattlers......Twice it has gone pearshape!
I know i shouldn't say this, but why don't you just park in Moulsecoomb? If i lived outside of Brighton, i would definitely park in there somewhere. It's not illegal, and it's really close to the ground!
