Just signed up for a weeks skiing in Meribel early January. Never been there before, any good?

Mottaret which is slightly higher is the dogs danglers. The three Valleys plus, there's miles and miles and miles etc. of the best skiing in the world.
Do you mean you've never been skiing before or never been to Meribel. Plenty of green too tootle down.
I hope you are skiing and not snowboarding, Snowboards are for dorks and mess up the pistes.

Really want to go this winter. Went to Serre Chevalier in February and it was amazing!

Early season deal in Mayrhofen Dec 8th-16th, lift passes also cover Hintertux Glacier so guaranteed good snow, just hoping for good weather. Hopefully hitting Val Thorens in Easter.

The 3 valley's are epic. If you're a beginner get an area pass, if you're competent get a 3V pass and go exploring.

This. I really like the high altitude open mountain stuff in Val Thoren.

Meribel is superb and one of my fav's ... nothing to add to what's been said ... loads to explore on and off piste

Definitely Sauze d'Oulx in Feb and hopefully some of the resorts around Lake Tahoe in March!

If you've got a flexible agenda and you've never done it you might want to try Mammoth instead .. much better skiing IMO although a bit quieter. If you've never been to Tahoe before I'd aim for Squaw ... Heavenly was overcrowded and full of dorks ... but that was 7/8 years ago and it may well have all changed.

Envious ... no skiing for me this year :tantrum:

Sounds good - I meant never been to Meribel before. I'm a *cough* competent *cough* skier, but Mrs P is coming too this year, so good to hear there's some easier stuff for her as it's only her 2nd time. And yes, we both ski and I agree with you about boarders :)

Perfect for you! My favorite, and I've been to a few my 45 years of skiing. I have three years to go before I can ski for free, don't know whether I'll make it or not.

I skied in VT a few years ago, loved the place, flat out down the black run off the last lift of the day back into resort is something thats hard to beat.
Just loved the varied terrain and with the Three Valley's pass, you rarely have to ski the same area its just so vast.

Stupid ski thread has gone and got me excited now ! :D

Les Gets in the Portes do Soliel for a week in January.

3rd time in a row in that area, lots of linked resorts.

Have stayed in Morzine before and skied mostly up at Avoriaz.

Was in Tahoe 2 years ago - head for Squaw or one of the smaller resorts like Kirkwood.

Actually I forgot to mention if I do go to go the USA then Mammoth is a definite. I'm trying to plan a trip to California centered around Mammoth, so I will visit San Fran first, then Lake Tahoe, then Mammoth and finally Vegas.

Or something along those lines. But essentially it's all about Mammoth and then try and fit the other places in as well.
