This week is at least the third time we played back to back Saturday Tuesday matches, with long periods either side, away from home.

Is this a league wide thing, or just us?

Personally I find it a bit of a bind waiting and waiting for a home game then 2 come along at once.
Not to mention jnr stat missing so many matches because of it being a school night.

Shirley it can't be difficult to arrange reasonably alternate matches.

I also think it affects the Tuesday night ticket sales for non STH's. It's a lot of money to fork out for 2 games only 4 days apart.

I think the whole fixture thing is a bit daft. Gus mentioned it too in a recent press conf .. why not Home/Away/Home etc ... how difficult can it be? Also odd that our midweek opponents are (generally) the same home as they are away

I love evening games but the fixtures this season are bizarre. Personally, I would like our Saturday home games to all be moved to Friday evenings. Like the Goldstone, there is something very special about an evening kick off at the Amex

Hull away was stupid for a Tuesday night, but feel for Eastbourne Borough, when they were last in the Blue Square Premier they were away to Gateshead on a Tuesday night!

Couldn't agree more thus deliberate policy of having double home then double always is causing me to miss more games than I did at Gillingham, pathetic planning by the football league, gas anyone any idea why they have changed away from 100 years of tradition?

Is it across the board then?
It's not 'just one of those things'.

We have another pair coming up, too, because of the Millwall reschedule. Home on Sat 14th and Tue 18th December.

That's kind of fair enough, cup runs etc, you just shrug your shoulders and get on with it.

But these are all fixture list planned, which shouldn't be how it is.

Very annoying that all the home midweeks have been 1st half of the season - there are all away in the second half bar Charlton on the Tuesday after Easter.

Unless either Blackburn or ourselves win their 3rd round FA Cup tie, and then the Blackburn match will be rearranged.

For me, I couldn't go tonight due to other plans. I could have tried to change stuff and other people around, but chose not to bother having been to a game 72 hours earlier.

I think it's changed a lot now because of the need for 'international breaks' which effectively split the season up into separate blocks of fixtures, still doesn't really explain why we can't have alternate home and away games tho.

It's all about the saturdays (not Frankie, Molly etc)
This question was ask before and the answer was that they try to give team H then A on alternative saturdays so when there is a midweek game then this is envitable.
I did post the full explanation I got from the FL but I can't find the fucker this morning

Found it :moo:

From the horse's mouth:

In reference to consecutive home or away fixtures, this is something that has always been there, but increased significantly when the Championship decided not to play on International Saturday weekends thereby increasing the number of midweek fixtures.

In the compilation fixture rules the Saturday sequence is given the priority and therefore where possible this will be H A H A. If you then insert a midweek programme this sequence is affected and you end up with 2 homes or 2 aways. Taking the earlier Sat sequence you add two midweek programmes (in Red) and you can see this. H A A H H A.

Another time that this can occur is when we reach what we call a sequence break when compiling the list. This is effectively when we “re mix” the fixtures during the season. There are 9 occasions when this occurs although we try to limit the number of occasions that affects each club.

Other issues that will affect the sequence are blank Saturdays for the FA Cup and for International weekends.

We hope that information helps.
