Best place to buy a used iPhone 4s?

I'm thinking of buying a iPhone 4s but I'm not too keen on paying £450 for a new one. Can anyone recommend somewhere, either a shop or online, where I could get a used (by used I mean in good condition) black 4s, either with O2 or unlocked? The price range is about £350 maximum. Obviously there's places like eBay but I've had a look on there and a lot of people don't seem to put many pictures up of the device.

Definitely gumtree or ebay - there's looooads of em. Just buy from a good seller if you're on ebay as you wont get a chance to hold the thing before you buy it.

Most ebayers worth buying from will send you some pictures if you ask via a message. Most people who look after their Apple products keep the boxes and things like that, so I'd avoid phones that don't have original box, cables etc.

The best bargains on ebay are the sellers that have a really good well looked after product, but list them really badly; i.e. with a stock photo with hardly a description at all. You then message them, they send photos of an immaculately looked after product, with box and everything and you'll find not as many people are bidding on it.

Cheers for that advice. I always tended to avoid the listings which don't actually have a picture of the device but that's quite a good point.

I've been on GG for a year and it's been very good. I'm on the £10 per month plan on a 4S, and that's been fine for me. I make about 150mins of calls, and use about 250mb of data per month. GG actually tells you your usage each month and the best plan for you.

Click the link above for a SIM card, you'll get a start up gift, and I get some credit as well if you use it. No cost to get the sim card, but it needs to be the micro size.

EDIT - I note that you have a choice to get the micro size. When I got mine I had to trim a normal one myself.

I got put onto GiffGaff from NSC recommendations.
I'm only a few days in, so all I can say is the set up is very straight forward.

Edit :- Bold beat me too it.

There are many crooks there is no doubt about that. You can only do your best to avoid them, and ebay/paypal can offer you some protection. Always go for as high a feedback as possible and have made at least 25 or so sales. Check the feedback to see if they are a trade i.e. lots of products the same, or just a domestic, i.e. lots of different odds and sods being bought and sold. Read any negative feedback to see what problems have been, sometimes buyers are complete arses and write a negative for nothing, so it's worth reading. If something is listed cheap as a buy-it-now, there is -ve feedback, then it probably is too good to be true. I always making a point of messaging a seller, even if it's a stupid question, just to see how quickly they come back to me, and the quality of their reply prior to bidding. Gives you a reasonable idea of who your dealing with. I'd avoid the phone dealers (which you can tend to spot), and just try to spot the individuals selling their own phone.

Not saying you can completely avoid being scammed, but I've been using it for 10 years, and to date have not been victim of a scam....touch wood.

Always eBay but always check feedback. I got a mint condition iPhone 4 for £190 on eBay last month.

I've just got an iPhone 4 16gb for £145

Is there much point getting an iPhone 4s? Is it any different to the 4?

My contract with orange is almost up. Do you think I should cancel it and sign up with GiffGaff and get a 4S? How much would this cost and is it an easy process?
