Absolutely irrelevant who wins this election unfortunately. Whichever President will be completely in the pocket of the big US corporate financial machine and the religious (Jewish and Christian) lobby, and be making decisions on what is best for them rather than the actual US/Global public.

Don't you mean the Illuminati and lizard people?....

(hasn't been one for a while to be fair.)

That is a view from the left. From the middle of the road I think there is a huge difference in foreign policy. I think the world will be a more stable place under Obama than Romney.

Totally agree on this Romney would wage war on anyone of Islamic faith, also since Bin Laden was "eliminated" the cards are all in Barracks hand now.

I always suspect that the religious and business lobbyists really determine the outcome of the US elections. Presumably Romney will adopt a more protectionist approach to help the US business economy and presumably it will suit him to be involved in conflicts around the world so that the US arms industry benefits and preserves jobs plus keeps the numbers of military personnel high rather than out of work. I guess the instability across the middle east makes the chances of some new conflict quite likely and thats before Romney takes on the Iraqis. I'm not one for appeasement but fear we would be facing a very unstable period for several years.

You have to be kidding surely, his extreme Christian-Right wing views would never appeal to over 50% of the US public

Way more than 50%!! They're homophobic, racist and sexist views! Not even the "bible-belt" states would be too fond of the bloke! It's a worry but shows the sheer diversity of USA!

It's Obama for me, easily, regardless of how close the election may be, he will still win it!

The problem is, there's no US version of Nick Clegg.

The Tories could go to the nation and say "Here is what we propose to do. It will in fact make things worse, not better, for all but a relative handful of you -- we know that. And you know that -- because most of you are old enough to remember when we were last in power, and it's exactly what we did then. We promise nevertheless to do it all over again. Oh, and did we mention we're not-Labour?"

That's not going to win you an election outright, not even with that added fillip of being not-Labour -- but it will get you to within a Nick-Clegg's-ego's(1)-length of the finish line.

And the GOP don't have a Nick Clegg to make a similar deal stick here.

(1) Nick Clegg's ego and Hadrian's Wall -- the only two man-made structures in Britain visible from low earth orbit.

Even in the deepest of Southern States Mississippi they refused to pass the personhood bill that Santorum and his buddies wanted that would have meant a females egg had all the rights of a person even before it was fertilised, that rules out not only abortion but most forms of contraception. These guys are wackjobs

Exactly! It's a worry how much of a joke the Republicans are! Especially when Romney delivered that stupid speech to the millionaire donors

And as you said, they are nutters!

Obama is a fairly poor president, all the wonderful rhetoric in his election campaign has collapsed in to the insoluble problem of hitting the brick wall that is Congress and the Senate. I think he has a heart and wants to make things better for ordinary Americans rather than Romney's righter wing views, but, he can't get anything done .

On another note, I managed to cope with Barack but what the heck is a Mit ?

Pity Newt Gingrich didn’t win the Republican nomination. He was a complete fuckwit with a massive ego and zero chance of winning - but he would have made a very long and boring election a bit more amusing. Romney just isn’t any fun.

The greatest hope for America and the wider world is Mittens keeps up with the same crap and loses not only the White House but the Senate and the House, then Obama can really get stuff done like a jobs bill, closing Gitmo, ending the Afghanistan war and a real financial solution to the mess Bush and Clinton left.

Thanks for that, now I can see why he prefers Mit. Must be awkward being politically Pro Life when you share the name of a popular sterilizing product.

Mitt is actually his middle name. His given name is Willard.
