Relaxing Dress Code

So after attending the Arsenal match today (free tickets) we had tickets in the club level, i was told to dress 'smart' and i went by the Amex dress code and dressed up, on entering the lounges practically everyone had an Arsenal shirt on and there was no dress code whatsoever, it made the whole atmosphere much more friendly and less corporate. I think this could be something that we could learn from, instead of the dress codes and prawn sandwiches in the 1901 club? Please correct me if i am wrong but i have only ever seen people dressed smart/suits there.

Agree with this...most corporate fans in our suite wear casual....but club shirts would make it better.

Also the atmosphere in the lounges/seats is friendly and pretty much far from corporate.

It certainly was, like a library in there until the last minute where there was a chorus of 'we love you Arsenal' they only love them when theyre winning 6-1 against a crap team.

She's not into football but I thought she might like the atmosphere etc. However, she was refused entry to the 1901 club because she was wearing trainers (very smart pinky jobs they were) No matter how I pleaded they wouldn't let her go in unless she took them off and walked in her stockened feet. How ridiculous is all that.

Im not saying everyone should be wearing football shirts, but surely you should have a choice? If you like to go smart so be it, but i think there should be a choice and less strict

Don't they have some shoes they lend you in these circumstances? They do for blokes because once my mate was refused entry as he had shoes that looked like trainers!

They looked into a cupboard to see if there we any old 'acceptable' shoes knocking about but there were none. So it was either we went home or she took her shoes off. So off they came and then into the lounge and out to our seats in her stockings. AND I promise you her 'trainers' were really smart and a lot better than loads of other footwear in the place. It was her first time and still they wouldn't relent and let her in. Crazy and short-sighted.

So it's more acceptable for someone to have, literally, no shoes? That is ludicrous!

(I thought they had some spare WSL seats, or similar, where those rejected from 1901 were able to transfer to)

I do obviously believe you, and this is really so unbelievable!!! and really is absolutly f***ing madness!!! its a football stadium FFS!!

Probably one of the only posts ever that has actually made me angry reading it!! .............i am truly lost for words!!

And if anyone wants to do the rules are rules, fine, but the rule is stupid in the first place in my opinion!!!
