No, there's only 8 hours, when we have had ALL SUMMER to do this. FFS. Why leave it this late?

players and agents are the main deciders on who goes where and when and by holding out to the last minute they get more money -- dont blame the club -- blame your heroes

If this is true,

f***ing Wednesday over us? I seriously cannot see why anyone would choose Wednesday over us.

Await the usual "We have a budget to stick to blah blah blah"

We've spent nothing this window, with all our players coming in on free's apart from Crofts who I cant imagine cost too much. Where is all this dollar at?!

But we have spent money, PIG and Bruno were out of contract so would have commanded a decent slice of money as a signing on fee. We also don't know if the loan deal with Man City for Wayne Bridge has seen us pay them a fee for that. It's not quite a simple as we've not paid any transfer fees so where is the money.

To be fair, Sheffield Wednesday are still a very big club. Also, Bothroyd would get to work with his former boss, and they're getting heavily funded by their owner.

Personally, I'm quite pleased. Don't rate him; bad reputation. If we don't get one in, I'll still take our squad over Wednesday's all day long.
Trust in Gus.

DOOOOOOOM AND GLOOOOOOM. We have played really well in all three games this season, with all of the signings this summer fitting in nicely and performing!

Jeez, we scored 5 on Saturday with our foot off the gas for moat of the second half. I'm not worried.

Have I missed the bit where it was confirmed that we actually wanted to sign him? All I have seen is rumour on here and the odd story in the press. We don't know that he has chosen Wednesday over us, that might have been his only offer.

The club never confirm when we are after someone. The only thing we EVER go on is what's in the press. I'm just tired of this striker dilemma and do not want another season of loaning in average, standard players like Vokes or Paynter who offer nothing.

And we have signed Orlandi today. Our team is even stronger.

"I think it is partly a question of player availability. With the advent of the transfer window, clubs are mindful not to lose players without being able to find a replacement before the close of the window, which is why we often see a domino effect on deadline day. Equally, the approach of the deadline, coming a couple of weeks into the new season also focuses the minds of clubs to what more they might need in their squad over the four months until January and could prompt them to enter into the market at the last minute.

"There is also definitely a financial aspect to this, with selling clubs looking to leverage the deadline to maximise the sale value of their players. Some of the deadline day transfers have often been rumours for a long time but it takes the close of the window to get the deals done."

about what?

Do you REALLY think the club have just been sitting around twiddling their thumbs all Summer. As frustrating as it is i'm partly glad we've not signed anyone yet as it shows we're aiming for big targets and the RIGHT man - and not panic buying just to please inpatient fans...

also, think about WHY deadline day is so exciting and how players coming in free up other players to leave etc. You're being very 'I want this and that now' for my liking sorry.

That from Alan Switzer of Deloitte on the BBC site. I was just about to post the same. It's all about deals and bluffs. Anyone know anyone who's good at that sort of thing?

But you wouldn't think so based on what we have seen - so far.
