Just back (I live way out west!). Cracking game - loads of chances, some real quality on view. Absolutely amazing to see the Amex with 25k+.....can't wait till we play someone like Leeds, when it'll no doubt be a full house and really rocking. If anyone went tonight and did NOT heartily enjoy themselves they need their head examined (and are obviously better off supporting ManU).

The biggest positive for me was the speed we moved the ball at in the final third. Neat one-touch triangles and overlaps, Cardiff couldn't get near us as Noone was cutting in, CMS dropping deep and Crofts driving on so it almost became a 424. Our biggest fault last season was too slow a tempo, it was great to see the increasing understanding between our forward players and the zip they played with. Sure, the odd pass was misplaced, which is inevitable the quicker you play and less time you take over a pass, but it was refreshing to see an opposition defence on the back foot rather than watching us impotently pass it from side to side in the centre circle. And Crofts left one in on Bellamy in an absolutely HUMUNGOUS 50/50. Glorious scenes.

That being the case, I was just in a happy mood; no heart in mouth stress even with the close shaves where Caerdyff were close to scoring.
I thought the main difference from the last away game I went to in Brizzle early last September was we are physically and mentally stronger. That game we won but we were buckling under pressure, and that was just Brizzle.
Tonight El Abd was a rock, Bridcutt largely controlled midfield, Keeper knew what to do - but less momentum up front than this time a year ago, which soon faded.
They were disciplined and strong running but I thought their only player I'd want in our side would be Whittingham.
Hurrah!
ps Not many Olé moments, but (although I was diagonally opposite) didn't Bruno sidefoot a nutmeg pass accurately to one of our players in the corner directly behind the way he was looking?

New seat in u/e fantastic, the best view of a game i've ever had.
Best i've seen noone play.
defence looked solid.
cms played well.
Caught 1800 off of portslade, jumped on direct train to falmer, met mates in the swan, 5 min walk to my seat, great to be back!!

Stadium looked fantastic.
Back 4 looked decent against a very good championship side.
CMS looked a much improved player from the end of last season.
I got given £3.90 change having paid for a pie with a £5 note.

Do you know what really made me smile last night? I was queuing up outside Dick's Bar, and the three furry seagull mascots were doing their usual mingling with the crowds around the North West corner.
All of a sudden there was a loud, high pitched squeal of "GULLY! GULLY!", and some excitable little lad came sprinting across the tarmac, trying to attract Gully's attention. When the giant seagull turned around and spotted him, the kid just leapt into his arms (wings?).
I used to think football mascots were crap, but you can't put into words how thrilled this little boy was just to get a hug from Gully, followed by a few photos. Then he ran up to the other two (Sammy & Sally I think?) and got the same treatment. That's the sort of thing that makes the game so memorable for small children, and the club have made giant strides in that respect in recent years. You just know the lad will be going home all excited about it and telling his Mum and friends.
We're all guilty of being a bit cynical at times, but that moment really made me smile and feel all warm inside
