From what I just read on a football report from Egypt, he has just bagged himself a call-up to the national Egyptian squad.

Fantastic effort by him, if true.

Anyone else seen this?!

Hope it is true, he deserves it :ascarf:

I don't think Google's translation is quite right.

He was artistic director of the Egyptian team has announced a list of the 30 who will participate in the camp of Morocco, which has seen the exclusion of Mahmoud Abdul-Razek Shikabala and Amr Zaki Zamalek players in addition to calling the slave player Adam Brighton, England.

Line of defense: On behalf of Ali, Mohammed Abdel-Shafi, Ahmed Hijazi, Mahmoud Fathallah, Ahmed Said Oka, Adam Abed.

Pharaohs camp, which was supposed to be embraced by Morocco this week.

For his part, Azmi Megahed member of the Executive Committee of the Union of Egyptian football in remarks to the reporter Yallakora.com that the Moroccan Federation sent an official letter today expressed its apology for the camp host because of special circumstances, the Union refused to disclose them.

It was assumed for the Egyptian team to travel tomorrow to Morocco in order to engage in the latter camp before facing Mozambique in the opening match of the African qualifying campaign. For the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

In the same context was for officials of the Egyptian Federation for Football Frroa open a hot line with the interior of the request for approval to engage in friendly matches, which was to be waged with the team in Morocco, Senegal, Cameroon and Togo in Cairo and under the conditions specified by the Ministry of Interior.

Ahh yes the Egyptian National Team - scene of one of the funniest things I have ever seen in football...

Mido (yes that Mido) was substituted in either the semi or final of the African Nations Cup with not long to play, he comes off and has a serious slanging match with the coach, telling him how stupid is he to bring him off... whilst he is doing this, in the background the substitute is scoring the winner only seconds after coming on... pure genius.

Mido... you are a fool

A different English version.

Egypt call uncapped England-based defender El-Abd - National Teams - Sports - Ahram Online

Egypt coach Bob Bradley has included England-based defender Adam El-Abd, who currently plays for Championship side Brighton, in his squad for the first time. The move comes within the context of preparations for World Cup qualifiers set to begin in June.

Born in Brighton, England to an Egyptian father and British mother, El-Abd spent his entire career playing for Brighton.

The versatile 27-year-old represents a key element in Egypt's defence. He became known in Egypt in 2005 and 2006 after saying that he would love to play for Egypt – but Egypt's national coach at the time, Hassa Shehata, never called him up.

"Bradley has watched him over the past few weeks and believes he will be a good addition to the team," assistant coach Diaa El-Sayed was quoted as saying by Ahram Sports.

The Pharaohs' defence suffered a massive blow recently with the sidelining of experienced defender Wael Gomaa, currently recovering from an injury.

On Tuesday, the national staff unveiled 30 names that would join the stage starting from Wednesday, 16 May, ahead of a scheduled match with Mozambique on 1 June at the start of Egypt's World Cup qualifiers' campaign.

Egypt squad:

Goalkeepers:

Essam El-Hadary (Merreikh, Sudan); Ahmed El-Shennawy (Masry); Sherif Ekramy (Ahly); and Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed (Zamalek)

Defenders:

Adam El-Abd (Brighton, England); Ahmed Fathi and Sayed Moawad (Ahly); Bassem Ali (Arab Contractors); Mahmoud Fathallah and Mohamed Abdel-Shafi (Zamalek); Ahmed Hegazy (Ismaily); and Ahmed Said "Oucca" (Haras El-Hodoud)

Midfielders:

Ahmed Elmohamady (Sunderland, England); Hosni Abd-Rabou (Ittihad Jeddah); Mohamed Abou-Treika, Hossam Ghaly and Hossam Ashour (Ahly); Ahmed Hassan and Ibrahim Salah (Zamalek); Mohamed El-Nenny (Arab Contractors); Ashour El-Taqui (Wadi Degla); Mohamed Nassef (Enppi); Ahmed Temsah (Dakhleya); and Ahmed Khairi (Ismaily)

Forwards:

Mohamed Zidan (Dortmund, Germany); Mohamed Elgabas (Lierse, Belgium); Mohamed Nagui "Gedo" and Emad Meteb (Ahly); Ahmed Hassan Mekki (Haras El-Hodoud); and Mohamed Salah (Arab Contractors)

"Adam Abed.............. the slave player" --- loving that!

The translation of his surname into english from arabic traditionally means "slave of the high" , just like our surnames Smith , Cooper and Taylor describing occupations.

That is superb. About time he got international recognition, considering how good he's been for us over the last 2 seasons. Fully deserved, and if it all goes to plan - we could be seeing him at a WC finals in the not too distant future.
