From tomorrow, the BBC Whitehawk transmitter switches to BBC South East.

No more Sally Taylor, bias to S'ton FC (and to a lesser extent Pompey & little Bournemouth).

Perhaps South East will give more time on the biggest club in the region ... Albion?

And news on ESussex, Brighton & Kent ... might be moe relevant to us, rather than what's going on in Wareham & Salisbury.

From what I have seen previously of BBC South East, punters who receive their signal from Whitehawk will be sadly disappointed. I am awaiting future binfests with interest.

Just means We'll be behind Gillingham and Dover now.

I'll be very disappointed if we don't get our usual coverage of local hotspots like Oxford and Reading here in BN1! How will I know if the local library in Didcot has survived Oxfordshire County Council's planned cuts? Or if the maternity unit at Reading hospital is likely to get a makeover in the coming months?

I've found that it's better coverage for the Albion but we do have to share with Charlton and Gillingham.
On saying that, they usually mention us first whereas on BBC South we had to get in line behind Southampton, Portsmouth, Reading, Bournemouth and Oxford!!!! FFS!!

I've had my Freesat set to South East for the past year and it's a lot better than South Today, obviously you get quite a lot about Kent but at least that is more bearable than hearing about Oxford or Reading. You get the feeling that South East know that they are a small local news broadcaster where as South Today always try and be bigger than they are.

As for the football pecking order:

Brighton
Gillingham
Charlton
Crawley

is how they seem to rank them

Mainly Albion is the lead footie story, although Gillingham get a load of air time if they are winning.
At least we get Kaddy Lee Preston on the weather..........yes please

If the proposed 'local' TV stations ever get off the ground then Brighton & Hove will hopefully have decent coverage of our team. Having said all that, we have a serious TV set up at the Amex now, it would be nice to think that 'feature' programmes will be made in the seasons ahead. Documentary type affairs, maybe a weekly 30 minute behind the scenes, meet the players etc etc.

Excellent news - I'm sick to death of hearing about places so far north that they are nearer Scotland than Brighton!

That is one annoying thing about South East, they have this weather woman that, despite being reasonably attractive, is the most dreary person ever. You also get Michael Fish occasionally!

We had a holiday in Kent last year and were shocked at how much coverage Brighton, the place and the team, got. One day, the first three news items were all about Brighton. It will be a very pleasant change

Sussex seems to be a void in BBC regional news and sports coverage - this switch will merely change the emphasis from Hampshire, Dorset & Thames Valley to Kent and South Essex.

At least there will be no more Basingstoke being the centre of the universe - but will have to put up with grim stories about Margate and the ongoing football problems of Southend United. Yawn.

South Today, being based in Southampton, is mostly Hampshire, why the hell Reading & Oxford came into the mix baffles me, as far as I'm concerned that's more the midlands, absolutley no relevance with a coastal county. South East Today is based in Tunbridge Wells so tends to be mainly about Kent so Sussex still gets a bit sidelined. When they play Albion are first team mentioned but they have far more manager interviews & longer pieces about Charlton & Gills (very rarely mention Dover FC). I'm guessing the have more journalists based in Kent, it's about time they set up in Brighton, must be the biggest place in Kent/Sussex?
