Yes OK. I dont have a prob with peoples spelling or grandma, but if someone is going to preach about it I expect theirs to be perfect, usually though this isn't the case.:)

It annoys me to a forum has people of all difrent types of backgrounds and mite even have people with learning difficulties on it then you always get some prick with a dictionary correcting everyone's spelling

This. Do we really want to be discouraging people who might have something interesting to say but have difficulties with spelling etc posting? As long as you can understand what they mean it doesn't matter; and if you don't understand you can ask them to clarify

The poor spelling and grammer are the result of our education system over past years, when mentioning to teachers that our childrens spelling was not good the reply was its better that they put their thoughts on paper without being restricted, spelling and grammer would follow later.
I want to read various views/opinions and am not put off if spelling/grammer is not perfect.

Worthing
I see some comments from younger family on friends on Facebook/Twitter and I worry for them. 'goin out 2 nyt' and the like really grinds my gears. I can sort of understand it when people were using predictive text on late 90's mobiles, but when you're sat in front of a keyboard, is it really too much more work to occasionally hold down the shift key?

Maybe I'm imagining it, but I also find good spelling and grammar a lot easier to read and digest. If people start dropping vowels out of words willy nilly them I have to actually think about what that word is.

i jus dnt lyk it

I agree, there are much bigger issues on this planet than the occasional missing letter :moo:

So you wouldn't take the opinion of somebody with dyslexia seriously?

There's no such thing. Schools realised years ago that if you classify a child who has shit spelling as dyslexic he/she would not count when the league tables were compiled. This coincided with an explosion of kids being classified as dyslexic.

I'd agree if it was isolated incidences, but the illiteracy just gets annoying. I'm really bad at spelling, finally passed English at the third attempt, but I make an effort.
