First half all 6.

Second half can't honestly say because I'm not sure we touched the ball!

This is based on watching via live screening, would be interesting to get the views of those that were there.

Do you mean you wouldn't give anyone more than a 4 overall, or just for the second half?

First half all 6 except Greer 7. 2nd Half Harper 6, Tarrico 2, with his experience he should have known better irrespective of provocation he let the team and club down CMS 6 for effort and trying. The rest struggle to make 4. Gus Poyet 5 for poor team selection again.

About right, however, Gus doesn't deserve a 5. 3 for me. The manager picks the team & extolls the tactics. He failed miserably (again) on both accounts.
Have to feel sorry for Harper. The money better be good to keep him here!

Are you saying you cannot see the same game on tv as those that are actually at the ground??? FFS - It doesnt differ! the goals that went it were exactly the same on tv as they were live. lol

Harper - 6 - Not a lot to do. One good save in the second half. No chance with the goals.

Tano - 6 - Kept Lallana quiet and defensively looks more able than Calde.
Painter - 6 - Actually thought he was also quite steady. Subject to a terrible challenge in the first half.
Greer - 7 - Defensively strong. Saw off Guly
Dunk - 6 - Steady performance.

Harley - 5 - Poor, ineffective. When he's on the ball he looks promising, but does not contribute when he hasn't got it. Noone overtook him the first half yesterday when closing someone down.
Bridcutt - 8 - Back to his best after a slight blip.
Navarro - 6 - Good first half annonymous in the second.
Noone - 6 - Couple of shots in the first half, but has a growing reputation, which is resulting in him being marked by 2 players quite often.

Mackail-Smith - 6 - Worked hard as always. No service again.
Paynter - 4 - Shocking. First touch was woeful and contributed little.

Subs - 5 - No real contribution from any of them.

The Sunday Times actually goes

Harper 7
Taricco 3
Greer 6
Dunk 6
Painter 5
Bridcutt 7
Navarro 6
Noone 6
Harley 5 (Calderon 6)
Paynter 6
CMS 7

Thus they consider all but Taricco, Harley and Painter had decent games.

So sorry to have enraged you!!

IMHO you don't see positioning off the ball etc that you would if there.

I'd have to rate Noone and CMS higher just because they were the only ones who looked interested after the 2nd goal.

CMS gets no service whatsoever, Noone, you might mark him on his energy, but I thought he contributed nothing, running into defenders and losing the ball, 3 shots on goal, if he were a rugby player, two would have counted, as a winger he should be supplying crosses to our forwards, but he gives me the impression that he wants to be our top scorer, these comments are not just from the Soton game, and I have heard others make the same comments. Dont get me wrong, I rate him highly, but he needs to be more of a team player than trying to do it on his own.
CMS is getting frustrated, often putting his arms in the air, we cannot expect him to keep running for loose balls that favour the defenders, he needs a decent supply from our midfield, but there lies our problem. Kiskishev is sorely missed.

Seen on TV

Harper - 7 - Not a lot to do. One good save in the second half. No chance with the goals.

Taricco - 7 - Stopped the Southampton counter attacks with his acute positioning and reading of the game.
Painter - 6 - Steady in defence. Subject to a terrible challenge in the first half.
Greer - 6 - Given a difficult time by Guly do Prado.
Dunk - 6 - Steady performance. Much better than usual.

Harley - 4 - Poor, ineffective.
Bridcutt - 6 - Better.
Navarro - 6 - Good first half. Made a mistake in the second when we had already lost.
Noone - 5 - Out-foxed.

Mackail-Smith - 6 - Worked hard as always. No service again.
Paynter - 2 - Shocking. First touch was woeful and contributed little. But he did do his bit in defence, albeit worryingly that he would give away a penalty.

Subs
Calderon - 3 - Got caught out when brought on to do a job.
Barnes - 4 - Got one kick in, but not the ball.
Sparrow - 5- No impact, if he touched the ball?

Completely agree, for the past few games, I think Noone has been pretty poor. Watched the West Ham game during the week and was shocked at how many times he gave the ball away through poor crosses and poor passes. When he needed to pass, he shot. When he needed to shoot, he passed... and then he got man of the match. I was shocked. But I do rate Noone. He just hasn't been at his best lately and think its time for LuaLua to have his time to shine.

Good post. I said exactly the same about Noone to my son. I rate him too but he does need to look for a team mate to pass to more often than letting fly from distance and seeing the result skew off his boot into the stand.

The service to the forward(s) needs to change immediatley or our goal drout will continue. I still think that we have a quality squad; we just need to get them all playing as a team, working for each other and creating chances for our strikers to latch onto and score. We can do this!

Harper- 6- Didn't have much to do apart from 1 save in the second half and picking the ball out of the net

Tarrico- 4- Was ok going forwards but lost his man for the first goal and then got himself sent off

Greer- 7- Made some excellent challenges and dealt with Lambert well enough

Dunk- 6- Silly to give away the foul for the first pen but looked comfortable the rest of the game

Painter- 4- No composure on the ball and was lucky to not give away a couple of pens. Very, very poor defensively

Noone- 6- Did a lot of running and found himself a few good positions but final ball let him down every time

Navarro- 5- Very quiet but looked tidy when on the ball.

Harley-4- Offered absolutely nothing. Game passed him by.

Bridcutt- 6- Made a few superb tackles and gave 100%.

Paynter- 4- Seems to struggle to control the ball when it's at his feet and gave away possession a lot. Didn't trouble Fonte or Hooiveld

Mackail-Smith- 6- Chased hard all game as ever but got no service.

Watching the game on TV yesterday would have been totally different from being there....

1. You wouldn't of been heavily intoxicated on Southampton Ale which claimed to be 4% but made a Carlsberg special brew taste like spring water!

2. You could only watch the game, I had the unfortunate view of the most disgusting fat slob of a man I've ever seen in my life.

3. You were lucky enough to have the 'off' button!
