Give the title to Man Utd now, the Premiership really is so boringly predictable!

The premiership is surely the holy grail for all football league teams and being there would be magical for us. Rather get beaten by manure infront of a worldwide audience than beat Donny or boro infront of 10k.

I just can't understand that. I'd NEVER choose the Albion losing over winning, no matter what the competition

This time last year, by the way, everyone was saying how easily Chelsea were going to win the league, following their start.

It's TWO games in, yes United looked half decent, but it means nothing at this stage.

i love how you all moan about the prem, yet say how you cant wait for us to get promoted to it this season

It's a dull and predictable league for the neutral, which is what we all are until Brighton get there. Clearly when we make it to the top flight we'll have a greater, and vested, interest. Until then I'll continue to look the other way.

For as long as I can remember it has been nailed on who the top 4 will be. And nailed on that two of the previously promoted 3 teams will go straight back down again. In fact I used to mockingly make this prediction on NSC until even I got bored with my repitition. The only major change to this is Man City. This still makes the league quite dull and predictable in my mind.

Agreed.
Its not just about being there.
Where the sence in saying we played Man u tonight, we lost but it was great ???

We want to be there to compete, not just make the numbers up.

But to play in the best and most lucrative league in the world is far to better than playing in the premiership! thats the point that is being made! And to see our team in the premiership is the reason we are all supporters, we want the best for our team! and losing to one of the best teams in the world at old trafford is far more attractive than an away win a doncaster!

Exactly right. I think Utd will win it, but just because they've beaten an ailing Spurs side missing their best player, doesn't mean anything. Chelsea and City would have done the same.

Old Trafford was like a morgue tonight no atmosphere at all.

People say its the best league in the world, I'd rather watch the Bundesliga any day of the week. Better quality of football, Far more open league & the noise they fans make is incredible.

Yeah all very well, and I'm all for bashing the Premier League, but that isn't actually true, is it? Yes it's a better league to actually go to live because of the terracing and being able to have a beer in the stands etc, hence the better atmosphere, but the quality of football really isn't anywhere near the Premier League, is it? Spain and England are years ahead of it in their domestic leagues.

And all this stuff about how everyone hates the Premier League and it's so boring etc, what are you going to do when we get there in a few years? Stop going? Or do you think you will absolutely love it? Ask Blackpool fans what they thought of last season. Ask Swansea fans whether they would rather still be in the Championship. It's ridiculous, you all sound like Palace fans saying they would rather have Selhurst than the Amex because it has more character.

Utd 3 - 0 Spurs. Who'd have thought eh? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

And discuss....

Don't agree at all!

Last season was less predictable than many before it and this will be no different. OK, it is probably going to be one of three or four (don't rule out Liverpool!) but was League 1 much different last season?

There is a lot of nonsense in this thread.

Are you seriously trying to suggest that the Bundesliga is higher quality football than the Premiership? I'd agree that it's a more 'open' league, but to suggest the quality is higher is ridiculous.

This is hilarious. Can you remind me who has finished in the top 4 in the past 3 seasons?

Man Utd
Chelsea
Man City
Arsenal
Tottenham
Liverpool

Yes, that top 4 is so nailed on that it's featured 6 teams in the past 3 seasons.

And last year, one promoted team (Blackpool) got relegated. The season before it was also one (Burnley), as it was the season before that (West Brom).

So, two different teams FINALLY squeezed into 4th place in the past 3 years. Wow. How very exciting. No doubt this was presented on Sky as "THE BATTLE FOR FOURTH PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!" on Exciting Judgement Sunday or something similar?

If you re-read this, you might realise how rediculous it sounds. 6 teams contesting 4 places over 3 years. Yes, very open.

I didn't say it was open, just that the assertion that the top 4 is 'nailed on' is, in fact, nonsense. It's also not unique in being pretty close to a closed shop - Spain has also only had 6 teams finish in the top 4 in the past 3 seasons. Italy has also featured a big 2 (Milan and Inter) who between them have won the league in each of the last 6 years.

I think Sky would describe it as 'Big teams dominate top leagues SHOCKER'.

So one more club in the mix = less predictable. And League 1 last season?

Frankly, as my team is not in the Premier League, I'm not really bothered how predictable it is. I simply enjoy watching good football and, even if some would prefer to deny it, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man C, Spurs and others do play some excellent football most of the time. I thoroughly enjoyed the game last night - United played attractive football throughout and Spurs matched them for 55 minutes but didn't have the incisiveness up front.

There are, for sure, a number of reasons to criticise the Premier League but the standard of football is not one of them.

You are comparing it to the rest of the divisions where this doesn't happen because the top few teams move divisions because they get promoted. Of course the few biggest clubs are going to finish at the top!
