The OP's post was correct. It is acceptable to say 'anymore', and to use 'nor' would imply that the people of this country have neither the care nor intelligence (that is, they are missing both), whereas the OP's post implies they are missing either care or intelligence, but not necessarily both.Gullywog: "Now I must be careful not to make any mistakes here, but is it just me or have the people of this country no care nor intelligence to use the correct grammar any more?

Bad spelling and grammer is an infection which is set in when the new age teaching said that it doesn't matter if you spell it wrong.
The rot sets in and people don't know that they are wrong as they have never been taught to do it right.
It's like respect, good manners and honesty; if it is not taught how will people know what it is.

I know many 7 year old Vietnamese kids (my students) whose English grammar is far better than many posters on here. I occasionally have to re-read posts several times before I can discern what they mean.
If foreign children can understand it, why can't English adults? I think the English education system is to blame; grammar is not taught effectively.

Couldn't care less about people's grammar, I think it's picky, elitist and pedantic to pick up on the smallest mistakes. So long as I understand the context, that's fine by me.

Clearly communicating a thought, idea or concept is the whole point of written English, especially on a debating forum like this one. Grammar, punctuation and spelling serve a purpose, so to dismiss out of hand someone who wishes to see it used correctly only encourages ignorance, which commonly leads to misunderstanding.
So yes, in the context of this thread, it is important.
How important it is compared to other things in the world is another issue entirely.
