Could there be a return to terracing?

Doubt it. :( and I think the introduction of PSLs at the Amex would really bugger it for us. Though I can't quite believe people have bought them, they have!

Whilst I support the re-introduction of terracing there is absolutely no way it will happen.

All the authorities represented at the meeting stated their opposition to any reintroduction of standing areas, although they no longer state that this is predominantly an issue of fan safety, rather of crowd control.
Indeed. With designated seating and all tickets sold to season ticket holders or through some system of registered membership, the authorities know exactly who is where in the ground. All "trouble makers" can be suitably dealt with.

And they know where you live.

Signed...sounds like the subject will at least be debated properly at last. The Bundesliga shows that safe standing is possible, it is indisputable. I really cannot see why the authorities continue to stick their heads in the sand over this issue.

We've just got to keep the pressure up. When I've been investigating this before (specifically to find out when standing up in an 'exciting moment' becomes 'persistent standing') I know that privately and unofficially the FLA are 'uncomfortable' with current situation where the rules are openly flouted by the clubs with larger fanbases. They did think that the culture of wanting to stand up to watch football would eventually die out, but in the twenty-odd years since the Taylor report it shows no signs of doing so.

If the 'Powers That Be' don't want to accept the current situation there are really only two options: rigourously enforce the regulations or give in and allow safe standing. Knowing Britain and modern British people the first one is far more likely - as a nation we DO like to slavishly obey every petty regulation.

Exactly. Those pesky Germans have pretty much killed the 'safety' argument (I'm sure much to the annoyance of some who'd rather they carried bodies out of Bundesliga grounds by the lorryload) and at least the authorities now pretty much admit it's all about control - all for our own good of course.

ahh would LOVE the north stand to be terracing at the Amex
If they converted the North into safe standing, filled the East stand upper tier, and filled the corners (with the north corners also being terracing) then I think the Amex would probably hold around 34,000 and would be my idea of the perfect Albion stadium.

It wouldn't take much to change it at the Amex if the law changed. The authorities have to be honest with themselves, thousands and thousands of fans stand in seated areas all over the country at many top level games. I saw a game at Bayern Munichs old Olympic Stadium and each person had a designated spot on the terrace as if a seat was there. Each row had a crash barrier to lean on, and it could have seats slotted in if required. It was very organised, as easy to police as seating, and very enjoyable for the spectator.

That would be dreamboat mate - a stand for everyone to choose how they watch the game.... the North would sell out every game....fact!!
