Nothing.

I am a strong non-believer in all the Valentine's Day rubbish.

I have always bought my woman gifts, flowers, dinner when I want to, not when dictated to by the Valentine's Day pressure mob.

In fact, when the woman was one of those who believed that Valentine's Day flowers were a necessity, I sent her flowers a week ahead of the 14th just to prove my point.

And there's nothing more objectionable than to be sitting in a restaurant on Feb 14th with loads of other couples knowing that the reason you're there is not some independent decision that you'd like to buy your woman dinner, but a requirement that you have to because it's Feb 14th.

In fact I have exactly the same views about Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.

Nothing, celebrating this over-hyped event from Saturday when away.

Also went out for a meal last Monday and just for once it was the two of us.

She seemed content with that.

I am myself unemcumbered at the moment, and fully expect the sound of the cards landing on my mat tomorrow morning to be deafening in its silence

Shit, I just realised I haven't got her a card - I'm in for some grief in the morning ....
Hurrah for Interflora - that should redeem me - a dozen red roses is the currency I believe?

That is my view. I left my last pub, The Cricketers in Burgess Hill, as the owner asked me what I was going to do for Valentines Day and when I said nothing she went into one. I tried to explain that it was a local pub in amongst chimney pots that relied on workers on their way home from work darts and pool. I am sure my better half would have been well pleased if I offered to take her for a meal at the pub I use 6 days a week with my mates.

To me Valentines Day, Halloween and the like are just commercialised rubbish to make shops etc loads of money for nothing.

It is commercial nonsense, but at the end of the day it's a couple of quid for a card. I think I can stretch to that.

With a badge.
And kisses on the bottom.
