This active and inactive offside rule is bollocks isn't it? Must be a nightmare to officiate, I'd happily go back to the 'old' offside rules....why fix something that wasn't broken?

He took a lot of abuse - but again I don't think he got a lot wrong. Only one that I can remember. He got a lot more right. And he certainly knew the rules - he was looking for active and inactive. Seemed ok.

He put his flag up every time we passed the ball forward. That's not how the offside rule works.

There is no way in a million years Barnes was offside, and also no chance Sandaza was interfering. The worst one though was Murray given offside when, as he received the ball, he had the Colchester defender BEHIND him, breathing down his neck.

Utterly shocking display, always miles behind the play and very late with the flag too. If it had mattered someone would've lamped him.

The last decision he waited to see who went for the ball - Sandaza should have gone for it - he left it for Noone - who did start in an offside position.

I was just quoting what someone else had said & agreeing, we are all entitled to our opinion's but as we are all in it for the long haul live & let live, hey Ive annoyed people in my time I am sure.

The moaning about that was lauaghable, Noone was miles offside. He went for it because the linesman hadn't flagged, because he wasn't going for it.

I agree with Mr Burns. The Barnes decision was shocking. In fairness he gave a couple that were right and some fans still had a go at him, but his overall performance was poor.

Noone was not offside. And Barnes when through at the end was onside but Sandaza was off, but the lino still gave it.

If it the one I am thinking of (and I think there was only one involving Barnes then he was definitely off.

Whether you like it or not, he got most decisions right. He just waited for the ball to be touched by the offending player before raising his flag.

I think it was broken, offside was being given against players on the other side of the pitch to the ball, linos were raising their flags when anybody was in an offside position often leaving the referee to decide whether or not the player was interfering with play, OK in theory but the ref often did not know which player was being flagged as offside. The present system is as you say a nightmare but on balance I think it is better than the old system and certainly results in less stoppages.
