Just far enough away from LDC
My mum and dad live in a flat about 6 miles from me. I phoned yesterday to see if they needed anything and they had already been looked after by someone else. The community spirit does exist. They also have a gay couple who live in the next door flat who ensured they had food, papers and milk last winter. Knowing there are people out there who do this is warming and reassuring should it ever happen that we cant get to them.

one memory of the 1963 freeze i will never forget was this. I was only 10 years old, but the snow was so deep at the cricket ground in one are kids had started to build what could only be described as a WW1 trench! it stretched for a good distance given the many hands that made it. only needed the barbed wire.

Absolutely spot on mate. I actually had two texts myself offering help earlier. You are so right that it is warming and reassuring

Snowing stradily in T Wells. Has been all day. Heavier snow predicted for this afternoon - but it all seems a bit hit and miss.

Mrs TRHK giving up on flights back from Geneva (closed) to Gatwick (closed) and is now trying TGV/Eurostar tomorrow - which will probably be fine, but might not be a train from London to Tunbridge Wells tomorrow. Will keep you appraised.

Hmm, I think I may postpone my planned meeting in Cambridge tomorrow. Don't think the M25 is going to much fun.
