I've been checking it out online and it seems quite a few people do it and there are a lot of routes and tips to help. I was going to just do Hadrians wall and then I thought why not do the walk of a lifetime. Happily there are plenty of sites and books to help. It's going to take a lot of planning though.
I was asked, today, if I'd ever considered cycling lejog.
Sadly though, as proved by Eddie Izzard, there's always a penis behind the wheel who thinks that anybody else is a fair target. (although 1000's of other drivers who are great, I'm not opening that can of worms, AGAIN)
So it's never really appealed to me.

why not so something more local like the south downs way, that is a great walk and it makes you appreciate the great countryside sussex has.

If you were really serious about it then yeah, I'd like that. I wouldn't be leaving til May 2011. If you leave in May and do LEJOG you get the Spring in the warm south and the summer in the colder north and sun on your back. Of course this depends on the weather!

May 2011 sounds grand!
You could make a little trailer for my dog, and he'll carry it.
Although if he saw a rabbit at the end of the day, you could end up back at the site you stayed at the night before.

Excellent.
I did a relatively small cycle (125 miles) and loved every minute of it. A small endeavour to raise some money.
Walking the length of the island is quite a feat.
I hope you don't fall out before Penzance, it could make for a long Spring.
