Withdean stewards are part of the problem, no doubt. But greater problem is the club has zero ideas for improving the lot of home supporters inc the negative reputation of the aforementioned. Not forgetting that performances on the pitch are what we mainly come for and they've been shite for many years.

It was cold, very cold, I sit down the front of H block and normally join in with all the songs but I just couldn't be bothered today, stewards weren't that bad, seemed to let most people stand all of the second half which seems to be becoming the norm, the problem has just as much, if not more to do with the fact that most of the people who go to the withdean these days are not people with much of an interest in 'getting behind the team' they all just want to sit down, and occasinally clap (right now through gloves) i think it would be better if C block all moved into H or vice versa, it doesnt make any sense to me to have 2 groups of people interested in getting behind the team but then to have them at opposite ends of the pitch

In block E a couple of us try to start singing but no one wants to join in, its just ridiculous. We made such a noise at villa park why cant we do it at home. I know the stadium layout isnt exactly the best for it but still :(

when there is a proper end again it will help, unless the fans are told to sit down every five seconds

The stadium has nothing to do with it. We were watching a decent game at Villa and the players had 100% concentration for a change not strolling about at the back like Virgo and Elphick do at home. It's been a long long time since we have had a convincing performance at home and some hope that we have a functional team.

Surely the roof at villa park kept the noise inside, at withdean this does not happen. I agree the performance was not the best by any stretch of the imagination, but we should still get behind the albion :D

The team has to give the supporters something to get excited about. Nobody complained about the atmosphere when we won two championships. With two seasons of pretty poor home performances is it any wonder the crowd finds it difficult to get excited. These players are not putting in the effort required, anyone who went to Villa last week could see how hard the Villa players worked to get a result. A lot of ours stroll around as if they have all day. The goal conceded today was criminal.

Couldn't have put it better myself.
The apologists are out in force trying to explain away the worst home record in history. Oh yes...its the fans sitting in silence failing to lift the team. My arse !!!...What a load of bollocks...do you really think anyone believes that crap.
What fans should be looking at is..how our team has the 4th best away record in the division but has played 13 home games and not played well in any of them !!!!!!!
Well, a good place to start would be to look at the character of certain players. Are they genuine ? Have some already made up their minds that they don't like playing at home...a mindset that is reflected in their performances. Every team that comes to Withdean know that if they go a goal up, they win the game. Away from home, if we go a goal down, we seem to have the desire to fight back. At home, we continually play at a level of about 70-75% of away performance.
The fans have been shortchanged by the players all season at Withdean but now we find out that it is our fault.

5th from bottom and a relegation scrap. Yep most of the team are simply not up to it, the table does not lie. But Poyet has not got his own team, they are hand me downs from the rubbish we bought in the summer and the season before. think Poyet done well given he has had hard fixtures given the shower of shit he inherited

Hard as he tries, he is powerless to do anything about the home form. That is entirely up to the players and too many of them ain't bothered.

b. IT'S THE LAW - Anfield ignoring it doesn't change the law.

bore off westdeane and stop making excuses for why the club wants to make life difificult for its customers. There are ways and means of doing things. but no t looks like the club is implementing he Ken Brown school of pissing off its customers just like he did at millwall

Yep it aint Poyets fault. Dunno if thy are not trying, i think its more that they just are not ver good at football, with the exception of Murray and Forster. The rest are a mixture of average to very poor. Accident prone defenders are a worry

The point about the stewarding is the lack of consistency, it may well be "the law" that you should be sitting down, but no-one told the millwall fans cos they were scared of telling them but us home supporters are easy targets, again though it depends where you sit, us in d block are virtually never told to sit down, not that we try and stand thru the whole game anyway.

As for the atmosphere i did nt think it was too bad today, no worse than most other home games, yes we can all do better to make more noise but the team has generally motivated the fans and not the other way round at home matches. Quite apart from the fact that people cant wait for falmer and now regard withdean like some old sofa that you know youre chucking out for the tip any day soon.

In our block today we applauded some good moves in both halves, albeit with gloves on cos it was about -10deg, and if we`d scored im sure the fans would have lit up properly, but, as with the last god knows how many home games, we didnt.

The clubs expectations of the fans sometimes is unreal, what do you think the fans would be like at most other clubs who hadnt seen a home win in over 3 and a half months, a darn sight worse than we are, I know!

FFS - the club are just trying to obey the law. At least Ken Brown is likely to be able to construct a coherent sentence !

So you're suggesting the club just ignore the law because the customers demand it ? :shootself

will you piss off with your english grammar lesson and insults you jumped up little so and so. there are ways and means of doing things, just like at anfield, villa, millwall, palace, pompey and everywhere but flipping ken browns brighton. There is a reason why Wall fans couldnt wait to see the back of Ken Brown - just ask them.

like f***, you might be but my grandad worked on the docks, another a laborer, the coastal towns and inland sussex is not middle class. The club is to blame for employing people to tell fans to sit down every time they stand up. As such, what do they expect?[/QUOT

Other clubs manage to generate a decent atmosphere in their all seater stadia, but it's the fault of B&HA's soft lilly livered supporters.

Shoosh - keep the noise i'm doing the knitting!!!!!!

Then the police were watching the law being broken by a thousand or so Millwall supporters for 90 minutes today. If it was such a serious breach, why would the Sussex filth, and the Met filth as well who were also present, chose not to arrest repeated offenders. I am personally mostly in the family stand but however much 'no standing' annoys me, the very least our vocal boys should expect is to be treated the same as visiting supporters in terms of how they are allowed to conduct themselves at the ground.
