Anyone else not have a clue what type of game was being played and where either of the teams come from, apart from it being in the USA? :Scratchead:

William's currently snoozing in his Florida pit. 90k crowd for a college game though - eat your heart out European Soccer! Can you imagine having played your school footie matches in front of a crowd that size!

:falmer:

Yes but they don't play as many games do they ? Actually, I think it's better to a College or NFL game an event rather than a game, anybody who's been to one knows what I mean.

It was indeed a college (American) football game in Gainesville , Florida. Troy come from Alabama apparently - I didn't know that either. Thanks for indulging me on this for a couple of reasons. Firstly I really have fallen for Florida with almost the same obsession I had for the Albion and secondly my wife is at home at the moment and with the time diff I had no-one else to tell! This is either pathetic or you lot are my surrogate cyber family depending on how you want to look at it.

My first college game and can confirm what other people have said about it being better than the NFL. Sort of like the difference between a really big Albion game and a sterile Premiership game I would say. Unlike an NFL "event" at Jacksonville where there are huge car parks this is more drive around and find a spot where you can which for me was a 15 minute walk from the stadium. The bars around were packed and all round it's just a really good atmosphere. People seem to identify with Florida and there's a real sense of regional/state pride as opposed to an NFL game which . although still very enjoyable , feels a bit like a packaged event if that makes sense where you should feel honoured to be part of a "presentation of the National Football League" (their words not mine).

Anyway this ex-pat was temporarily lonely as the missus flew home a few days before me so thanks again to those kind enough to indulge my ramblings and apologies to those that were bored or bemused!!

Getting home and logging on to see the news of a 2-0 win at Brunton Park (never seen the Albion score there in 2 visits personally) capped off a very good day.

Up the Albion and Go Gators.

Do any tailgating?

On another board I do some college predictions thing. Someone picks 10/11 games and I randomly pick who I think will win, what with not really knowing anything about the teams. Last week I got 9 out of 11!

No tailgating. I was with my son who is 13. Actually the pre-match seemed to be a lot more centred around bars rather than tailgating which was another way in which it was more like an English football experience. Hoping to get to another game soon. Most people I work with are Gator fans so it would be good to go with a few mates unless you get the short straw and have to drive.

Pretty good record with the predictions especially as there have been a few shock results around in the opening couple of weeks. Did you get the USC/Buckeyes pick right yesterday? Do you have a link to your blog/site?

Thanks.
The late Billy Mays (RIP Bill).

It's another message board. It's not really a sport site, just someone picks games a week and a few of us make guesses. There's several msu students there so their game is always in the list, and someone from purdue. The person who starts that thread is an arkansas fan so their game usually gets listed.

These were my predictions, no idea how I did yet, as I haven't seen any results:

1. #3 USC (1-0) at #8 Ohio State (1-0)
WINNER: USC

2. #18 Notre Dame (1-0) at Michigan (1-0)
WINNER: ND

3. South Carolina (1-0) at #21 Georgia (0-1)
WINNER: Georgia

4. UCLA (1-0) at Tennessee (1-0)
WINNER: Tennessee

5. Miss St. (1-0) at Auburn (1-0)
WINNER: Auburn

6. Central Michigan (0-1) at Michigan State (1-0)
WINNER: State

7. Purdue (1-0) at Oregon (0-1)
WINNER: Purdue

8. Houston (1-0) at Oklahoma State (1-0)
WINNER: OK

9. East Carolina (1-0) at West Virginia (1-0)
WINNER: West Virginia

10. Idaho (0-1) at Washington (1-0)
WINNER: Washington

Bonus: Thursday Game

11. Clemson (1-0) at #15 Georgia Tech (1-0)
WINNER: Georgia Tech

6/11 for you this week then. UCLA beating the Vols let you down along with a shock win for Houston. Do you use the ESPN website to check for scores?

Big one at the Swamp next week. Lane Kiffin has been slagging off Florida and predicting a win for the Vols. The street vendors were doing a roaring trade in t shirts saying "Talk shit. Get Bit" yesterday. Even my local Publix (think Tesco) has had "Lane Kiffin. Be afraid. The beating is coming" t-shirts for weeks now. Georgia (classless pieces of shit) were the last team to really have it coming and lost 49-10 last season so I'm hoping TT has something special lined up for them.

It seems Lane is a bit of a horse's arse although by all accounts Mrs Kiffin is very pleasing on the eye.
