Firstly it is worth saying that this is a warning that does not apply to most NSC users. But if you feel there's a chance this applies to you - it probably does.

I have just downloaded and installed a plugin that, when activated, can limit the number of posts that anyone can make in any given timeframe.

We do not want to use this, but will not hesitate in doing so if we need to. The most likely course of action is imposing something like the following:

- only 1 post per hour permitted, or
- only 10 posts per 24 hour period permitted

...to any poster about who it is felt just continues to make numerous posts of little constructive merit.

We absolutely will not impose such a restriction to the whole membership of NSC. If it is applied at all, it will be done so selectively.

Once applied to any given user, it may well stay in place for some time as, unlike post bannings, there is nothing automatic to 'turn it off' after a certain period, so will rely on someone remembering to keep tabs etc.

Im sorry im not sure i understand what your saying.
what constitutes shite ? threads about silly dogs ? italian resturants ? jokes ?
right wing or political discussions which spiral into slanging matches ? or funny observations pictures caption comps ?

Just use your discretion, a bit of shite on occasions is fine, but posting nothing of any merit endlessly is both dreary and unnecessary.

Can you really not tell the difference between attention seeking drivel and what you have suggested above?

I think the selective limiting of posts sounds good as long as it's only availalable to the more mature mods

i think half a dozen " who would you shag? " polls in a 24hour period, would constitute shite, but 1 " guess who i saw in an italian restaurant? " every few months might be more acceptable.

Okay Bozza, but my opinion on this rant-thread here, is that it is the old schoolteacher punishment of the whole class due to the antics of one or two idiots.
That does work in school, but won't here - all it does is cut the NSC nose to spite the face. You will reduce the activity of reasonable posters and invite a severe reduction, to an ultimate ignoring of the site. That system could even be used to the advantage of a rival website, who can attract those who want unrestricted use of a site whenever.

Solution is already in place - you have several moderators, just let everyone know that they are instructed to come down harder and ban people more often if they barrage the site with drivel and waste. They know when a tosser is going too far and can place bans accordingly.

You know this makes sense Bozza, so don't be a tosser yourself about it, and sort that out like I say. Alright?

Calm down and read it again. Nowhere does it say reasonable posters will be affected.

Are people that stupid they can't understand a simple post? PM me NMH if you need more help as it seems your missing the point entirely about serial offenders posting crap regularly.

would it not be better bozza to just give those that contiune to post drival/shite, harass and insult other members a 3 strike and your out warning ???

All i can say is we have a really good site here. I go onto other football and non football forums and i can say this one of the top ones. In your post you can put pictures and YouTube TV screan type things, which you cannot do on other forums. The Wacko's site for one.

All in all, just dont take the piss, dont insult the owner (If Bozza invited you to his house, would you call him a Tosser or whatever?)

Does anyone know, is there a similar plugin that I can download and install that will turn my usual dreary posts into witty and inspired ones?

I kinda share PF's concerns. I was part of a discussion a while back about the ordering of the steel for the stadium. Someone posted that as far as they are aware it was a major step in the building of the stadium, the schedule for its ordering hadn't been made public (beyond "some time in or around march" (I think it was march)).

Some people suggested that it shouldn't be asked, it was abusing the ATC facility, etc. I was arguing it wasn't abusing the facility and that the original poster had the right to ask it (assuming he was right about the steel being a major point).

That led to at least one person suggesting filtering questions on ATC.

Many times over the last seasons threads calling for MA/DK to go were decried as non-sense, and had responses from people calling for the thread to be deleted or closed or whatever, but just as many posters were agreeing.

So there is a legitimate concern over what is seen as shite and what isn't.

There are things that are clearly drivel. But there are also things that some people will see as legitimate and others will see as shite.

Will there be some sort of guide to what is acceptable? Will there be a PM exchange with mods allowing people to argue their case against some things being declared shite?

Other than those concerns, I think this is a good idea.

This is a good idea, as im confident that even though, yes I post alot 99% of it is not drivel and normally I'm having reasoned discussions with people.
But can I ask, There is a certain user who moans about the fact I post on most threads, and then he has the audacity to go and create multiple threads aimed at me, insults me wherever I post and generally finds it funny to call others things if you dont agree with him, I tried to sort this out with him via PM but just ignores my messages.

Is this acceptable because I'm sure many others have noticed the way certain people insult you(his favoured word is 'cu*t'), which I can take but I can't take that from someone who accuses ME of posting crap...:glare:

And Also, Is it against the rules to post my views on most threads, because thats what people dont seem to like, is it against a rule or is this another unwritten one?
