If you are married or in a long term realtionship would you be able to get way with ?

A 2 weeks holiday in the Far East with 8 of your mates, all blokes.

I am in dispute with someone I know as to whether it is normal or correct to go on a 2 week " lads " holiday for 2 weeks in the Far East whilst in a long term relationship.

I am not saying anything un toward will happen but will/would your partner " allow " or be happy with you going away on this type of holiday for 2 weeks.

I am of the opinion that is it pushing things to say the least. I am all for having your own friends and interests but I feel this is pushing it. My friend says in his circle it is normal and he is going ahead with it and has done in the past.

My friend thinks I am a pussy for baulking at this and my friends would not even consider it. Am I behind the times or is acceptable ?

Your opinions would be appreciated to clear up this point.

In myopinion absolutely and totally wrong. Would I be happy for my wife to go? Absolutely not and what about the cxhildren? No no no... you make a decision to be part of family you can't just pop out for two weeks.

Fair enough but a Lads holiday at the age of 40 is pusing it in my book. I could push a week end away, maybe even a week ski ing but 8 lads for 2 weeks in some exotic fleshpot ?.

A little break, fair enough and its good to have your own interests but a lads holiday for 2 weeks with 8 other blokes how many guys could honestly say their other half's would be ok with it ?.

I agree with you as a 50+ y.o. A weekend yes. Two weeks? Not on ! Actually I'm not even sure I'd want to use up two weeks precious annual leave on something like that anyway.

I am 46 and not in a relationship but in previoud relationships I would know my boundaries. Does that make me a pussy, my friend thinks so but I think it is pushing things very much.

Maybe but if you take something for granted it goes in my book. Would I be happy with my partner going away with 8 girly friends to some exotic location for 2 weeks probably not.

One of my best friends spent nearly a year travelling the world. Then a year after he came back, his girlfriend went on a year long journey.

But it depends on the type of relationship you're in. Not just about trust, but some couples like the independence, and the time apart, some can't bear to be apart for more than a day.

In May 2005 i went away for 5 days with a couple of mates. My gf was very peeved and barely spoke to me for 2 days after i got back.. and then i won £10k in the Coke competition and was miraculously forgiven! :lolol:
