I wonder what Micky, Dick and the gang are up to.

Instead of being on the telephone to every other chairman in the football league, trying to sign or loan some half-decent players, I have the feeling they are perhaps enjoying a nice beverage? Maybe spending some quality time with their families??!

With the club in the position it is now we should be spending every single minute of each day trying to strengthen our squad...

So far we've made ONE signing....

WHAT'S GOING ON!??!

That's great we are now even making up stuff to have a go at the management team with.

I don't understand how people think it is different to most years. We rarely do much business before the last week and that is because we haven't got the money to make players an offer they cannot refuse. So, any players we are after will wait to see if they have more options and come back to us next week. It is not ideal but most teams around us in League 1 do the same.

For the record, I understand we're looking at Benjamin Hill at Southampton and Kenny Williams at Fulham.

Here's hoping.

Benny Hill and Kenneth Williams.....?

Thought they were both dead.............should fit in well at Withdean.

I see other League One clubs strengthening their squads, and us LOSING players..

Defence: Richards in, Lynch out on loan, Richards out... so instead of having either Richards OR Lunch, we are left with Mayo (or Cook)?

Midfield: Thomson in, Hammond goes, Thomson goes..

Striker: Dixon in, Revell goes, Dixon shit, sent out on loan to sub for non-league clubs..

From every transfer deal we do, we seem to end a minimum of one player down on where we started? Which leaves us where we are now, approaching the last week of the transfer window with 14 fit professionals, an ancient goalkeeping coach on the bench who hasn't played competitively for years, and players like Mayo, Dixon etc who failed to impress at Lewes and Grays Athletic...

Now, stop being a club apologist and recognise that unless we press the issues that matter to our club (in this case strengthening the team) then we will be going to Dagenham and Aldershot away next season.

Oh my God, that is such a wank expression. It makes any reasoned post (which the rest of yours wasn't by the way), look tabloid at best.

I think there is positivity, then there is being a tad naive. I think you and a few others are in the latter catagory.

What in my above post did you disagree with, exactly? I thought it was a statement of fact..

Absolutely. If anyone tries to have a reasoned argument on here and suggests they may not hate Micky Adams/Dick Knight/the whole club/Tommy Fraser/the tea lady etc they are accused of being a club apologist, up DK's arse etc, which doesn't really help the debate.

Who other than Leeds have significantly strengthened their squad. We could probably get players in now but they would be average players who are no better than what we have already. If we want better players we will have to wait until next week and maybe even deadline day as clubs may not want to sell until they buy and the player will keep their options open.

We could do with a couple more average fit players. At the moment we have a goalkeeping coach and up to three youth team players on the bench.

Last season we rushed to sign some players, and ended up with Jonny Dixon and Shane McFool.

Izmir, Southern Turkey
And James Davidson at Charlton.

So, as far as I'm concerned, no lack of effort by the club.

None of these players exist... I looked everywhere!
