You wouldn't have thought so on Saturday's performance. In fact, his crossing has been shit ALL season.

Why the HELL is he playing on the left?

.

Why the HELL is he playing on the left?

This must be the most boring repetitive question ever put on here.

He has been tried a number of times on the right and he still cuts back inside so he is better doing it on the left and using his right foot to attempt to cross the ball. I hope that that has now finally been taken in.

are you not a student? why don't you go out and try and meet girls and stuff? I hear cider & black is all the rage these days..

i was a student once not so long ago... and I'll be honest, NSC was LAST on my list of things to do, just underneath coursework and clearing my overdraft.

But you know, some of us like to moan and whinge about everything...

Agreed. Or maybe you could spend your time wanking off to porn, rather than the reaction of people on here?

Anyway, back to the original question - I can think of a couple of recent goals straight off the top of my head that have resulted from perfect crosses from Cox [Robinson v Scunthorpe / Livermore v Swindon], so yes he CAN cross. He puts in a pretty high percentage of rubbish ones though, so it is an area of concern.

As is his set pieces, which were summed up brillaintly by one bit of commentry during the Carlisle game;
"Cox with the freekick, fails to beat the one man wall"

Right here, right now
Trouble is, he is putting the ball in at head height which for him is about 3 feet off the ground. The occassional good cross happens when he is trying to put the ball across to the other corner.

Sad but true.

He can cross, you just need to look at the assists he got in the second half of last year, but as someone else said, he puts in an awful lot of bad ones. What hasn't helped is that he seems to have trouble with a non moving ball, ie. freekicks and corners that hit the first guy, as such it's gotten so ingrained into people's minds that he can't beat the first man.

There was one example last year, he hit it into the wall, it rebounded off but he picked it up again, and then put in a fantastic cross with his left foot (which some people suggest he hasn't got) which was just headed over. At which point loads of people in the crowd started laying into him!

Not sure if it's the same game, but I think it was Port Vale last year, he scored our first, provided the cross for the second, and also provided the cross for Murray to score, only to be disallowed. In spite of that people still had a go at him.

Whenever you read a match preview from the opposition, its always Cox that their manager / fans are worried about.

If we were signing Dean Cox tomorrow from another club, people on here would be excited.

I'd say about 1 cross in 8 is of any use from Cox. He doesn't seem to be able to get the whip on the ball, and more often than not either hits the first defender, or puts it in behind the forwards. Piece of piss to defend against.
