Who's going, what's your plan and will you be wearing the stripes?

(Me: Going, on the vino in the esteemed company of Mr Notters from 'scoomb station at about five, meeting various friends and family and getting as drunk as possible, probably going for the blue and black Sandtex classic but may go for red and black to match the occasion.)

Working in Lewes during the day, will be finishing as early as possible and then getting out of Lewes as quickly as possible.

Starting a revolution from my bed
Retailers are saying there could be a shortage of fireworks for Bonfire Night because Chinese manufacturers used so many for the Beijing Olympics.

In fact there are worries there will be none left at all for November 5th if Jade Goody dies before then.

Will be escaping this village before it starts

There are posters up saying Police are confiscating any alcohol they see people drinking on the streets

The event itself is not to bad, its just the carnage of getting back to BN1

Heading to the County Ground this year instead

Sometimes I forget how much I hate NSC.

Never was there congregated such a bunch of miserable killjoys, eh?

My plan is:

-John Harvey Tavern circa 5.30pm for Hog roast and a pint of Bonfire Boy
-Snowdrop circa 6.15pm for a pint of Best
:ascarf:
-Dorset 6.45pm, pint of Best :ascarf:

-Sneak up round the back of the High Street to the Lewes Arms for a pint of Harveys at around 7.30.

:ascarf:
-Watch the processions near Lewes castle til around 9.15
-Down to Elephant and castle for another pint of Best
:ascarf:
-Down to commercial square's firesite for 10.15
-Leg it back to the station, (possibly via the Lansdown) :ascarf:
then on to Audio in Brighton for the Freestylers circa 1am

Oops, that was supposed to be the beer drinking ICON not the scarf waving one, never mind!

I'll be there

Just found out I am needed to help escort the Heathfield Community College Samba band round the parade.

So if you see a bunch of kids playing drums I'll be close by. Give us a wave.

Wild HORSES could not drag me to Lewes on bonfire night.

Well, they probably could if I was tightly tethered. But I wouldn't be happy.

And being wild, they wouldn't know the way anyway. I'd probably end up in Seaford. Which is almost as bad.

Not that tame horses would necessarily know the way from Southwick to Lewes. But you catch my drift.

Shit plan. I think we should stay at home and moan about how rubbish it is, making sure we've emphasised how much we're not going on a thread which asks who IS going. Wahey!

Lewes for me as got a few friends that I may bump into. Though a slim chance I could be going to Lindfield instead if a good neighbour of mine is available and gets out of work early.

I heard there is a secret Wicker Man festival being organised at Devils Dyke by a certain person here, as a rival instead of Lewes sounds good except they are secretly considering sacrificing me. :nono::D

I'm sorry but there really is no alternative. If you just want fireworks you can go anywhere (though you won't get the homemade aspects!), but for atmosphere, tradition, excitement, noise and Harveys, it has to be Lewes!

If you are going have a good time. As far as Im concerned though, once you have done it once thats it. Same old stuff each year and full of idiots and chavs who think it is the "trendy" thing to go to.
People throwing bangers around, excessive crowds and packed trains is not exactly my idea of a good night out. If you live there though thats different

My 10 year old daughter's going to be dressed up as a Tudor for the early kids procession for Waterloo. It's her first time in it so i'll be watching her in that. Then it's back to my mates who lives about 4 doors along from us for a barbeque, jacket spuds, jevs wicked chicken curry and shit loads of beers before getting a chair out and watching Commercial square's superb ariel display which is about 200 yards from my garden !!!

Fair play to you. You live in Lewes - you should be there
