White is being used an escape goat.

I think Adams main problem is the Virgo at all costs attitude. It doesn't help the team when a player is taken off just to keep Virgo on the pitch.

Everybody, and i mean everybody on here was saying that Virgo will play centre back against Hereford. I was the only one saying watch Adams go and put El-Abd with Hawkins ...

Yes, those escaped goats can be a real problem...... they might frighten the donkeys away.

that was the sacked clown booker

Oh yes, so it was. Maybe Mr White cuts up the oranges for half time then (badly, obviously)??

If not, I haven't got a sodding clue what he does.

What's amazed me is why as a club we paid booker off as we sacked him and then gave him a job again - now i am not whinging as some say but how the bloody hell is that good business - we must spend most of our budgets paying people off when we sack them,

So what are you suggesting? That we sacked him because he was brilliant at his job? Sounds likely... not.

Has it occured to you that there are far more ways to judging someone's professional qualities than 'not good enough' and being 'brilliant', and that maybe neither might actually be the reason for his dismissal a couple of years ago?

No, I'm not sure of the reason either, but I'm not going down the assumption route that you have, nor accusing the club of being a 'joke' on the back of that assumption.

Badger - this is an abstract from the club' s press release on 6/9/2006.

Assistant Manager Bob Booker is also leaving the club, and Knight added, "Bob has worked well with several managers here but we feel the time is right for a complete change in the management structure".

Replacing all or part of a management structure is not unusual in any business when the Dept Head leaves (for whatever reason) and it may not have anything to do with the competence/performance of any individual in their current position.

Fair point, and having read that I would think your last paragraph is the correct answer.

But then I wonder why Booker was kept on by the club after a number of managers left (Micky, Coppell, Taylor, Hinshelwood) and then it was suddenly different when McGhee went. Maybe it was just time for a change, but then what has happened in the last two years to mean that changed should be reversed?

Presumably MA (the "Dept Head") wanted him as Reserve Team Coach when Ian Chapman decided he didn't want to stay on.

So at the end of 2007/8 we have:
Wilkins - Team Manager (and presumably 1st team coach)
White - Assistant Manager
Chapman - Reserve Team Coach
Creighton - GK Coach
Bragg - Youth Team Coach
Lloyd - Chief Scout

Wilkins is removed as manager in May 2008, is offered the job as 1st team coach but declines. The remainder of the team management staff were to stay as is but Chapman decides to leave so at the beginning of 2008/9 it's:

Adams - Team Manager
1st Team Coach - Vacant?
White - Assistant Manager (no change)
Booker - Reserve Team and Development Squad Coach (slightly different role to Chapman's)
Creighton - GK Coach (no change)
Bragg - Youth Team Coach (no change)
Lloyd - Chief Scout (no change)
