Sport picturesMark Hughes hopes to persuade Colin Kazim-Richards to return to the Premier League in a £4million switch.
The London-born Kazim-Richards is one of the rising stars of Turkish football after helping his country reach the semi-finals of Euro 2008.
And Hughes feels the Fenerbahce winger could be the answer to Manchester City's problem wide-right position.
Hughes' lieutenants Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki have been making discreet inquiries about Kazim-Richards, who starred in Fenerbahce's run to the Champions League quarter-finals last season.
AdvertisementThe Turks paid Sheffield United £1.275m for Kazim-Richards 13 months ago and the Istanbul club would want at least £4m to part with one of their prized assets.
That is well within Hughes' budget and ambitious City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has already shown he is prepared to back his new manager by bankrolling Jo's record £19m signing.
Kazim-Richards, 21, who qualifies for Turkey though his Turkish-Cypriot mother, is settled in Istanbul and still has three years left on his contract.
He is mobbed in the street by Turkish fans who treat him like a god.
But Hughes believes he can still lure the former Brighton forward back to England with a triple-your-money £35,000-aweek deal.
