I see that you cannot take any booze into one day games at the County Ground this season. It seems it is a decision made by all the counties due to some of the issues at 20/20 last season. However it does now make it a far more expensive day out having to buy drinks from the bar.

The good news is you can still take your own cans in for proper 4 day cricket.

That's slightly annoying, although I'm sure you couldn't take booze into 20/20 games last season which is why I ended up downing a few cans of XXXX (nasty beer, not my choice) just outside the ground before the Yorkshire game

You can see their point of view, seeing as we lost £300k last year, but they need to improve the facilities and perhaps increase the amount of people with 'beer packs'.

The easiest way round this...

Sometimes you can get lucky, I walked in Sunday and Monday and was not checked, but the guy in front both times got booze confiscated. Although I did'nt see any signs. Always ends in agro and chaos on the big games, think the club ends up annoying possible new fans to add to the beer sales.

At least they serve Harveys.

I noticed this on Sunday but they didn't search my bag. It's surely worth the risk of stuffing a couple of cans in your bag and if they do search you you've only lost a couple of quid

in the past, they have never bothered to check members going through the front gate before - if they do i wont bother drinking at all at cricket this season

They were checking at that gate on Sunday.

Have to say due to this I drove on Monday, as paying £3.30 for a pint of Bow was starting to add up over the day.

wank

normally i would take a few bottles of westons, and then suppliment this with a couple of pints of strongbow. no point in doing that anymore, might as well drive to games

Could always pay money to park in the ground and then sell cans of Bow from the back say for £2, then everyones happy. I had to drive Monday and it cost me about £4 in parking meters, could'nt believe they council charge on a Bank Holiday.

There has not been free parking in Hove on a Sunday for a while now.

Whoops I thought the signs said Monday to Saturday. Parked on Sunday and blew the funds on Mr Whippy, amazed I got away with it the parking patrols are normally zealous around Brighton and Hove. Still I should cycling again saves all the bother.
