Did anyone read his bit in todays programme?

What a twat - He claims that he likes Dick Knight and is glad to see Brighton doing well after all the things that went against them.

Hmmm was he not one of the people that demanded Brighton to be kicked out of the league?

Nothing to do with trying to get support for your new ground Hearn?

Utter wanker.

Yep - I was f***ing incensed by it. I won't put the obvious fixtures response even though I mentioned it in another thread. It really deserves it's own thread.

Glad I wasn't the only one to spot it.

He also made very similar comments on Sky sports before the match at Brisbane rd mentioning how he has many friends in Brighton!
I think he'll be surprised.

He is a TWAT

The programme when we played Orient last season had a section saying how amazing Hearne was. But why? Why are trying to be all friendly with him? What the hell do we gain out of it? Hes an absolute knob head.

When many clubs were campaigning to have us kicked out the league in 1997 (after the season had ended), Barry Hearn incurred the wrath of his own fans by not only refusing to vote against us but also spending a lot of time persuading other clubs to back us too.

It all stemmed from some correspondence and meetings he had with fans after his comments post the 4-4 game. I wrote to him and he wrote back. We also spoke and chatted about it and he admitted he was wrong and it was heat of the moment and was genuinely appalled by the actions of our then board.

If true then this has been kept VERY quiet. But if true then do we call it quits with him?

what bit was kept quiet? that 17 clubs did vote against us or that Orient persuaded others not to do so? The latter came from a fans forum at brisbane road a few days before the vote and he was roundly booed for it. Buono the moron was most incensed!

I would like to think so. Bridges, not barriers.

The second part obviously. Barry Hearne is hated among Brighton fans, so why is the fact he probably helped us stay in the football league such un known knowledge?

Whilst I understand the anti point of view, Hearn is the owner of a club that he actually loves for all the right reasons. He is not in in to make a few bob, he's living the dream he had as a kid. Like I would have done if ever I had made enough money. In this he has lots in common with DK.

Can you imagine being a Man City fan, and really trying to convince yourself that some crook from Malaysia that you had never heard of, and who had never been to Manchester, let alone Moss Side, gives two shits about the traditions and history of Manchester City ?
Or the owner at Chelski? Or Liverpool? Or ManUre? Or Stoke? Or West Ham? Or Pompey? Or Villa? or QPR? Or Leicester? Or Coventry? or Southampton? or MK Dons?

If we ever sell out to someone who is more interested in making a profit out of my support, than he is in fulfilling my Albion dreams, it will be a sad day for me.

Thailand, he's the ex-Prime Minister of Thailand.

My defence on that technicality is that I may have had a few cold drinks this evening. But the principle ?

The principle is fairly sound but I doubt any Albion fan would truly worry if some 'crook' offered to pump squillions into the club if it meant an end to our financial worries, bought a load of quality players in and saw us competing for honours on all fronts and ensured the club was secure for decades to come.
