"Murray's move south has been bankrolled by major shareholder Tony Bloom. He continues to pump money in while Albion struggle with high overheads and falling crowds at Withdean ahead of their switch to Falmer, earmarked for August 2010."

Does anybody know a bit more about the man? Fair play to him for stumping up that sort of cash, but what has he done to earn it? Is it all winnings (Wikipedia suggests that by 2007 he'd earned about £1million)? Or does his website rake it in (Google indicates that he sold Premierbet, but i might be wrong)?

Where does the cash come from? How's he got 300k loose change?

Either way, top bloke:bowdown:

He seems to be a fan with some spare cash and the influence to throw it in the direction of squad strengthening.

I know that he has previously bunged a few quid at paying bills during the summer. That is equally welcome.

Whether we see more of this will no doubt depend on the turn of a few cards and his willingness to continue chipping in, once he realises what a bunch of moaners the rest of us are.

Do you remember LI's hysterical rant about him when he thought he was trying to oust McGhee?

Compared him to Archer I think..

And he wonders why he hasn't been begged to come back on this board.heh

Hopefully, LB, he takes little notice of the clueless, uninformed rants of some on NSC. Unlike them, he knows what's going within the club.

Good man... he obviously realised the club needed to invest short-term in the squad as well as long-term in Falmer...

Is it not the case that he cannot be on the board officially due to his profession?

Without wishing to sound a killjoy one would assume that he didnt actually pay all of the cash but gauranteed it, which is the usual way of doing transfers, what would happen if he lost a couple of million at poker rather than won it and was unable to meet the transfer payments.

Even if you are right, and I have no reason to assume that you are, I think the clue is in the word GUARANTEE.

A gaurantee is only as good as the person has the money to meet his obligations, what I am asking is if, and I have no reason to suspect that it will happen. he lost his money and couldnt honour the gaurantee I would assume that the burden would fall at the feet of the other directors.

I don't think you put yourself down to guarantee a loan unless you have the money, and are 100% certain of having the money at every stage at which it is required. The money will be tied up in a bank account somewhere, not in his current/gambling account!

My point is that unless he actually stumped up the £300k which nobody knows, other than a chosen few, the club are still responsible for any repayments and any future payments, so to say he has bankrolled the signing may not be entirely true.

No - your REAL point is 'Shit - the club have done something good and hard to criticise. How can I come up with yet another way to make it sound as if everything's falling apart and yet still sound reasonable at the same time?' Change the record or at least admit that you only come on here as a wind-up merchant
