Only one will be crowing is Farage, he can spin this as win for reform and clip up Labour MPs calling those asking for an inquiry as far right.

More awful PR for Labour.
He would be entitled to do so though, didn’t Parliament have a vote on a national enquiry recently whereby all the Labour Party MPs voted no? Worse still, senior Labour Party figures including Starmer have referenced those pursuing justice with this issue being connected to the far right?

Let’s not forget that Ann Cryer, a retired Labour MP now, highlighted this issue back in 2003, and at that time it was understood and accepted that in Rotherham that local councillors, social services and Police had colluded to delete records etc. to prevent the scale of the problem being known.

15 years later the same thing was happening in Rochdale and Oldham whereby senior GMP detective Maggie Oliver blew the whistle on the conduct of colleagues and social services, I am pretty sure she (like Ann Cryer) testified to a Parliamentary committee. In short, everyone, media, police, CPS, politicians etc. would have known what was going on. Even Burnham has accepted there was institutional “negligence”.

The difficult question for the Labour Party (not that the Tories did anything about it either) is that most of the areas where this took place are Labour territory. The suspicion of the wider public is that in order to keep these territories loyal there was a politically inspired cover up of the problem. I think we really already know the answer to that.

As do you.

Asylum sites to be expanded as ministers bid to end hotel use https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvg92lyr7yo

Sir Keir Starmer pledged to close the Wethersfield asylum facility during last year's election campaign, but the BBC understands that site and another in Huddersfield are among those under consideration for extensions.
Good news for shops and businesses that depend on happy shoppers spending their hard earned cash locally (y)

Best thing Reeves could do is scrap the OBR and her silly fiscal rules

You 'got all the right words, but not necessarily in the right order'.

So every Tory/Reform supporter on NSC now gets to start their very own personal Labour bashing thread ?

Lovely :lolol:

Nah, I thought it was just the recycling of a comedy line (from possibly my favourite episode of anything ever!) that’s been done to death since 1997.

If it wasn’t 6.25 a.m you’d have assumed a drink was involved 🤣🤣

The power of North Stand Chat, today’s the last day of my long weekend so it was gonna be a quiet one. This morning I’ve been reminded:

It’s Sussex day

It’s acceptable to be pissed on a Monday morning

Father Ted is hilarious

The Charlatans are superb.

With the Mrs at work, the boy at school and as I have half a box of cheap lager still in the fridge, that’s my morning mapped out perfectly.

I disagree - the call from Reform and belatedly now they're not in power from the Tories, was an inquiry into specifically Muslim grooming gangs.

As far as I can tell that's not what's being proposed, but an over-arching inquiry into ALL known group CSE cases.

Unfortunately for the right, this will also shine a very bright light on our own homegrown offenders too, and rather take the wind out of their sails*.

All previous research indicates that the vast majority of large scale CSE is carried out by white, mainly male, gangs.

The major difference, unlike previous incumbents of the PM position, Starmer has asked someone to look at the evidence and IS then going to act on what they have brought to him!

*I can already hear the "ah, but it's about percentages, innit"!

I looked for an 'underrated band' thread just so i could nominate The Charlatans. They have been consistently brilliant for a long time and are an excellent live band.

Love em.
