So while we discuss whether UEFA will expel Palace and will Mitoma, JPVH, Bart, and Pedro still be in the squad at the start of next season, what about Dunk? He was fit for the last few games yet did not get any minutes, let alone a start. Is his time up, and if so, where does this Brighton stalwart and local go? Straight into the coaching staff or onto another team? I think we have seen the writing on the wall for a while now. Is it time?

Stay.

He needed the rest at the end of the season, I expect we'll see a different, fully fit Dunk next season. Although if JPVH stays, I wouldn't want to break up there end of season partnership until one has a dodgy spell/injury.

Still in need of a new CB regardless for the post-Dunk succession planning.

I think Dunk stays, I do not think he will be a starter. JP and Boscagli to start, Webster Dunk as back up, sounds and looks pretty good to me. I think we keep JPVH.

Pedro I think goes, Mitoma I'm 60-40 stay (but there are teams out there that could tempt him away so I will not feel secure until the window shuts).

Lewis is too good not to have around, but possibly his fitness level is dropping slightly with age.
I think he will be a wonderful leader within the squad but likely to spend more time on the bench than previously.

JPvH and Webster (or Boscagli or another new defender) as starters with Lewis coming on as an impact sub when needed.
His passing range and vision remains excellent, and also his blocking and tackling.
Based on what I see with my eyes, it's just his speed that is slowly diminishing.

I think from memory Dunk had 1 stinker all season and wasn't really fully fit, I'd wager he shouldn't have been in the squad but we was bare bones so he said if you need me .
What I do remember is the Pascal is finished thread 2 seasons before he had his best 2 seasons so I doubt very much barring a serious injury we don't know about Dunk will be a spectator next season.

I think the fact that he spent last summer training, staying completely match fit without getting a single f*cking minute's playing time has almost certainly impacted his form and fitness this season. Hope he has a bit of a break in the close season and comes back firing on all cylinders. Still got lots to offer.

I think he's with us as a player for another season or two, but what to do after that is an interesting question (for him, not for us!) as a one-club man. He'd probably get offers to captain aspiring championship teams in a PL promotion bid - would he do that, or would the romance of going straight through the Albion from academy to coaching appeal too much? I guess the salaries would be comporable.

It's an idiotic question. Why would he want to leave?

Although I interpreted as the OP saying he's not good enough. Which is even MORE idiotic. He had 3 caps for England last year.
I've been a journalist for over 25 years and one thing I learned very early on is that there are NO idiotic questions. Because often the simplest – or what are deemed the most obvious – questions get the biggest/most rattled (therefore making a great story) response.

YOUR response (ironic from someone who wastes NO time in asking what could be deemed to be 'idiotic' questions) is a classic case in point of the above.

Fair play to the OP. He might have a point and he's also asking open-ended questions as opposed to making a statement or stating their opinion.

Barely fit all season, if at all.
Hopefully he'll be fresh & able to contribute in August. He's obviously near the end but don't think it's time to write Lewis off yet
