Recency bias maybe, but every world class player has off days. I can remember a few this season where Mitoma has been poor but, only a few. Most games he makes things happen, turns games and some of his touches, ball control are simply mesmerising.Think there’s a little recency bias in some of the comments on here. He turned the match off the bench last week so it’s fresh in the memory but there have been several occasions where he has effectively been marked out of the game.
That’s not to say he wouldn’t be a huge loss. He has that rare ability to turn the match with a moment of genius and will be all but impossible to replace on a like for like basis. But life goes on and we shall just have to adapt. He’s been nothing but professional, never once throwing his toys out of the pram to force a move. I’d be really sad to see him go but couldn’t begrudge him the opportunity for one minute.
Price is now the thing and the club will doubtless do what it does in getting maximum value from any deal.
Our business model suggests …..He will be sold when the club s valuation has been met .
Has to go out on loan (somewhere in Europe) as he won't have a work permit to play here.Going out on loan I would think
No, losing our best players doesn't automatically lead to 'transition' seasons. It didn't with Bissouma or Cucurella or Trossard or Caicedo and Mac. What we have every now and again is a 'reset' season, where we decide the previous era of BHA has come to an end, and we adjust styles and squads and move into the next era. A bit like a reincarnation of Dr WhoI know it’s just how things work but it’s really irritating. He’s the one player in the team who in my view is irreplaceable. We need to accept that if he goes there’s going to be a substantial drop in quality going forward next season. Which then leaves us in the same situation that many people warned about, whereby we’re again in a ‘transition’ season trying to get over such a big departure
As much as I laud very highly Plettenberg as a transfer journalist, I honestly think €50m (£42m) we are supposed to have indicated as the transfer value for a world class winger (that we are keen to keep) with 2 years left on his contract is a ridiculously low figure. It’s only €5m below the Transfer Market value and that’s saying something!I'd really miss Karou if he left.
Salah just signed a new 2 year contract. As much as I laud very highly Plettenberg as a transfer journalist, I honestly think €50m (£42m) we are supposed to have indicated as the transfer value for a world class winger (that we are keen to keep) with 2 years left on his contract is a ridiculously low figure. Bayern will be among half a dozen teams ‘interested’ and the Saudi Pro will probably still be sniffing, so this figure is a stalking horse figure imo. Liverpool (with Salah out of contract) and Chelsea who could do with an upgrade will be ‘looking’ no doubt as will PSG and several other European teams who have the Champions or Europa next season.
In fairness, if this is going to happen, I’m sure the club would prefer it done at the earliest opportunity. Pre-season is less disrupted and the financial landscape is clearer.Another bellend agent. At least wait until our season is done
fair enough - been too wrapped up in our own Club players to follow other Club’s contracts tbh but the point of my post still stands - £42m is a ridiculously low figure for Mitoma who still has 2 years left on his contract and a player at peak career performance who we don’t want to sell.Salah just signed a new 2 year contract.
Don’t we tend to sell towards the end of the windows when we don’t want to sell to allow other offers to come forward in the hope of a bidding war? - the price will go up as other Club’s preferred targets fall through. In fairness, if this is going to happen, I’m sure the club would prefer it done at the earliest opportunity. Agreed. I can only recall him being poor when overplayed & exhausted, or carrying an injury. When match fit he's been regularly incredible, as has his attitude.Recency bias maybe, but every world class player has off days. Well well well. Makes sense he's better than trossard, a lot better.
