A group of Albion supporters will be walking from Falmer to the Tottenham stadium for the last game of the season in aid of Cancer Research.

Leighton Little, (a son, brother and friend of some of the walkers) passed away from a rare form of cancer in 2022 aged 15 having been diagnosed on Boxing Day 2019 and unsuccessfully receiving intensive treatment through the covid period. Leighton’s dad and younger brother are season ticket holders in block E1C and are regular away fans. Archie White (a friend of Leighton's) is a north stand and away regular, and came up with the plan. He and my eldest who went to school and played cricket with Leighton are also among the walkers.

So far they have received over £4000 in just over 3 weeks (https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/walking-to-brightons-final-away-game-of-the-season-from-falmer-to-tottenham)

They will leave from the Amex stadium on the Friday morning and split the route up into 2 marathons in 2 days and 1 shorter leg for the Sunday. If things work, the last mile will go past seven sisters station and if any match going people wanted, they can join them from there to the stadium

The club have supported this and included a feature in the last home Programme

Jackie Beltrao from Sky spoke to Leighton and covered his story during his treatment back in 2020 (here is a link to it https://news.sky.com/story/keep-fighting-young-sports-fan-battling-cancer-amazed-by-support-of-england-cricket-stars-11993126 )

I realise times are tough for so many people but it would be wonderful if could give this fantastic group of youngsters your support.

Pictured are from left to right, Jenson (Leighton's brother) Teddy (my eldest) and Archie (the brains behind this)

You are all so very kind. Thank you so much.

Yes they all have tickets (tier 1). Safe standing may be a step too far 😀

As I sit here with a catheter attached following very minor surgery, I feel obliged to help the next generation avoid what myself and many others are going through now.
£20 in the pot (+gift aid).
Any chance of an exact departure time and route on the Friday, would love to come and see you off.

Thanks so much. Sorry you are in the wars at the moment

A number of different routes out from Amex to gatwick/horley area (being the 1st stop) are being trialled as part of the training. Once that's sorted I will be able to give a firm time/route

Day 2 is a bit more straight forward its just a question whether to go through or round Croydon 🤔. Stop point is by tower bridge and then on day 3 it's over the bridge and marching on to tottenham along the a10 /Dalston and past seven sisters to the ground

Day 1 and 2 are around 10hours each day so likely an 8.30ish start

As i say will come back nearer the date with set off times and checkpoints

Thank you to everyone. They are now over their 5k target (with gift aid its over 6k). But of course they are very grateful for all support they're getting. Today's training walk was just south of wivelsfield to Lindfield and back. Just 3 weeks time and they will be done.

I'm giving this a little bump. Training is going well with a 20 miler this Sunday to finish the prep.

They set off a week tomorrow and in addition to the fundraising link there is also a raffle with the star prize being the shirt worn in the first half last Saturday by Danny Welbeck (and in which he scored the penalty)

I know the roads on day one very well, you will be going past the street in Lindfield where I grew up. I don't want to be teaching you to suck eggs but Iam wondering how you are planning to keep the walkers safe as there are long stretches with no footpath.

Thanks for this

Yesterday's last 20 miler training walk was around those routes up into the day 2 route to bletchingley. There are 2 main sections that need to be away from the road and using marked public paths/right of way through fields to avoid the roads with no footpaths. It needed a bit of trial and error and checking that the maps were right but will make Friday and Saturday morning less stressed 😀
