I’d had been a bit miffed if Alexis Mac had gone to Bournemouth, Fulham, Forest or whoever we measure ourselves against these days rather than Liverpool so I can see why some of their supporters might feel aggrieved by losing Trent A-A to a direct rival.

Is Trent going to Manchester? No. So the comparison is if Alexis played for us for years and then went to club with better trophy prospects in Spain. We'd have been ok with it. There's no excuse for Liverpool fans giving him shit. None.

Looks like Forest may bottle the champions league lol wouldn’t that be good
Not if it gives Chelsea a free pass out of their financial black hole.

The Liverpool fans who are objecting don’t see Real Madrid as a bigger club than theirs and if you insist on telling them otherwise you’ll merely antagonise any cognitive dissonance they have over that. That's how this kind of resentments goes.

Although according to El Pres (whom I'm pretty sure is on the take) Chelsea are sitting pretty re FFP thanks to all sorts of clever accounting (that may or may not give El Pres a boner - it does).
I thought UEFA rules were tighter and they will fall foull of it.
(I think it's just a fine though, not expulsion from competing)

I've no idea, it just all seems very dodgy (re all clubs cheating FFP that is)
Mention today that Villa will need to sell somebody before the end of June to meet PSR requirements.

Perhaps they have a 16yr old nobody’s ever heard of who they can sell to Chelsea for £35 million while buying a similar nobody from Chelsea for…oooh…let’s say £35m.

Or an U14 team they can sell to themselves for £150m.

But as it’s the context of why so many Liverpool fans booed him any legitimate parallel with us would have required Mac going to a club our fans consider our equal. But it’s all hypothetical because he didn’t!

What on earth are you on about?

You tried to liken the move to Alexis going to another English club around our level, but that comparison doesn't work because Real Madrid are not another English club. The Liverpool fans who booed him are idiots, and decent Liverpool fans will agree.

Not only are Real Madrid a rival of Liverpool their fans have a particular dislike of them. The fact they’re not English is irrelevant because the point I made was about Liverpool fans not accepting Real Madrid is a bigger club than theirs. All clubs have some idiot fans.

Do they not have a hotel they can sell?

I didn't say they were.

It seems like you accept that the Liverpool fans were being idiotic, in which case we're in agreement. You didn't really need to justify their behaviour by same you'd also have been miffed if one of ours had gone to a rival.

I didn’t say anything about Liverpool fans. I didn’t justify anyone’s behaviour. All I said I would be miffed if one our players had done something under certain circumstance and I don’t know why you have read so much into that.

Liverpool fans can't fathom the fact that playing for them isn't the be all and end all

SHOREHAM BY SEA
Says in the Times that Awoniyi has had surgery after that offside blunder at the weekend. That offside protocol needs to be scrapped. Let the linesman flag for offside.
Not very good news this evening…..the player is now in an induced coma…..this differs from the club statement earlier which said he was fine.

edit …I see it has its own more informative thread….apologies

But they seemed pretty positive about the outcome. People are often sedated in hospital to give the body a chance to recover from trauma. It's not necessarily a bad thing in itself.
