I took particular note that there was a substantial delay in Putin giving his speech in the middle of the night.

He may have delayed it for dramatic effect, but I wonder if there was disagreement behind the scenes, and the speech went through several iterations before it was deemed ready to be delivered.

Beneath the faux confidence and nonchalance, there may be a mad scramble going on.
For me it just looks like Putin stalling again. He really doesn't want to negotiate any sort of deal as he knows Ukraine will not give him everything he wants. Now he has leaders, including Zelenskiy, saying they welcome his response when really he is just kicking a ceasefire into the long grass while keeping the opposition on side. Deeply cynical.

Yes, but Zelensky knows this and it's not good news for Russia, it just means Putin can cling to power for a bit longer. No one with a brain thought Russia was about to agree to a lasting peace, so Ukraine knew the war would continue. As it continues, Russia's economy continues to worsen and they continue to lose a thousand troops a day.

What Ukraine needs is support from the West, and sanctions to remain on Russia. Putin's only hope is sanctions being removed and Ukraine losing military support. Otherwise Russia will be unable to make significant progress on the battlefield, and their economy back home will continue to fall until it reaches tipping point in the next couple of years.

Trump effectively sides with Putin by ignoring Zelenskiy's push for a 30 day ceasefire before any negotiations could start by insisting Ukraine meet Russia in Turkey.

Wanker should have supported Zelenskiy in his request.

There's a TWEET from Donald DOWN BELOW. No pressure on Russia but HAVE the MEETING Ukraine.
More game playing by Putin, but maybe Ukraine will join in to SEE what HAPPENS.

Seems Putin has pissed off Trump about WWII.

Common knowledge but always worth revisiting.

“WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump acknowledged to advisors that he made up a fake injury to avoid military service, because “I wasn’t going to Vietnam,” his former lawyer told lawmakers during testimony on Wednesday”

AAhh, he has such principles, and loves to lecture Zelenskiy 🤬.
