How will the relegated national League teams be split between the north and south? Seems like 3 southern teams and 1 northern...will they shift someone across ?

Presumably they'll just pick the northernmost of the three, either that or move somebody else from south to north if they're really, really southern in location. I think Oxford City have spent the last couple of years in the NLN, despite not being particularly northern. Nor are Kings Lynn, in my mind, but needs must.

5 promoted teams and 1 relegated in the north and 3 relegated and 3 promoted in the South

Relegated
Maidenhead - South
Dagenham - South
Ebbsfleet - South
AFC Fylde - North

Promoted
Bedford Town - North
Telford United AFC - North
Macclesfield - North
Worksop - North
Merthyr Town - North
AFC Totton - South
Dover - South
Horsham - South

There was rumours of Hemel moving north but playoffs means it will be easier to do with promotions.

Looked at this earlier today, the only difference I could see was Merthyr being in the south with a south team moving north eg Hemel joining the likes of Oxford City in the north.

How many did Maidstone United take to Priory Lane yesterday? The only reason I ask is there was a few on my train as I headed to Falmer who were all quite impressively drunk for 1130 in the morning. They all got off at Pevensey & Westham.

Why is it unfair?

They finished 7th in the league and everyone knew the rules going into the season. If you don't want three away matches in the play-offs, then win the division or finish higher in the play-off standings.

Chelmsford can’t be much more southern than Merthyr?

In fact I’ve just googled it. According to www.morenorth.xyz it seems like Hemel is 1 KM more northern than Merthyr, which in itself is 1 KM more northern than Chelmsford. So it could genuinely come down to where their grounds are in relation to the city centre

Turns out you can put postcodes in to that website, so I did all 3 of them.

The top line is Hemel Hempstead, the bottom one is Chelmsford. Merthyr is in line with The Plough. F*ck me that’s close.
I believe it’s done on transport links as well. Chelmsford was further north than Bishops Stortford, but if coming from the North by Road, it would be further to travel, as you’d have to drive through Stortford to get to Chelmsford.
