I am not sure I understand all the angst over empty seats. As an outsider living overseas what I see is all the seats are sold, sometimes twice, most weeks. Is this not the case?

My theory is that tv moving matches is one of the biggest factors, not that I have any proof that it is the case.I don't have angst, but I do have an interest.
It feels to me as though our support, in terms of the number of people prepared to pay and travel to home games, has dropped off this season, but I don't have data to back that up.
In recent prior seasons, it has always felt like exchange tickets were quite few and far between and, as you say, those second sales were significant.
This season, certainly over recent months, we've seen thousands - sometimes in excess of 4,000 - unsold exchange seats. I just don't think that happened before.
So, as I say, it's more personal curiosity and interest.

I think people were quite comfortable giving their season tickets to friends and family to use and this has changed over the last few seasons.I don't have angst, but I do have an interest.

Do you make the 8pm kick offs?Managed to sell mine, which came as a surprise.
Just couldn’t face the bank holiday traffic from Dorset in conjunction with the shitshow that is on the A27 at the moment.
Think last week took around 4 hours to get back and knew this week would be worse.
When I can I do yes.Do you make the 8pm kick offs?

Great effort. Hats off to you. When I can I do yes.
Can’t always get the time off work and can be difficult to convince the school jnr has a dentist appointment so often.
I’ve just had to pay £70 to take my 17 yo niece to the Livepool game to sit near us . I was expecting £50-60….Let us pay kids prices for kids ( who have to pay £30) to be members then more seats would get filled
Seat behind me in ESU yesterday (£54 no concessions) same seat for the Liverpool game £70 it’s a rip off PB…..
It’s difficult to unpack isn’t it?My theory is that tv moving matches is one of the biggest factors, not that I have any proof that it is the case.
Agree. Many reasons - life priorities change too. It’s difficult to unpack isn’t it?
I think there are any number of different reasons why people are cancelling season tickets sometimes it’s a combination of all of them:
- Age of STH - As STHs get older, it’s harder to manage physically to attend ( which explains why the Club does so much to encourage kids who are the next generation of STHs)
- Cost of attending regularly- cost of living has risen exponentially since the Pandemic
- Travel issues - particularly trains. Years of under investment in public transport infrastructure and endless roadworks since the Pandemic https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money...lays-motorways-roads-LONGER-pre-pandemic.html
- Changes to the previous flexibility with sharing STs
- Last minute TBCs because of TV schedules - makes planning ahead difficult - we have had increasing TV slots in the past 3 seasons or so.
Yes. My sense is it’s hand cranked data. (The ticket scrutiny by some Arsenal fans is pretty intense. Lots of monitoring of ballots, Ts and Cs, and pricing)Interesting.
I'm wondering how a fan gets hold of that data.
And how many players are going to want to bring their three-year-old kids onto the pitch at ten in the evening? It’s such a shame. The players and their families doing a circuit, and the sight of a five-year-old scoring a goal in front of the north stand, was great and introduced a bit of humanity to the game.I've heard there won't be a post match players parade round the pitch. Suspect the club are cognisant of the lens of it being done in any empty stadium
