Gods country fortnightly
I doubt we’ve even seen the full impact of the tariffs on these numbers yet. This is just a pre-tremor.
Trump will be forced to make a huge backtrack on China tariffs, the pain will be too great.

More U-turns coming whilst trying to claim victory

The arse end of Hangleton
That's part of a longer 100-day interview he did with ABC's Terry Moran, who gave him a good grilling.

Trump spoke his usual fantasy made-up bullshit throughout, before losing it a bit at the end and having a dig at ABC.

ABC have put out most of the bits individually, but I can't find a video of the whole thing, but they have put out an audio only version:

I'm not sure if I'm more shocked at his complete lack of self awareness and the opinion of the rest of the world or his complete disconnect from the truth. Really ... almost speechless after listening to that bile. PLEASE someone assassinate him.

Although I'm sure many people perceive me as insane I still think the US is salvageable and I certainly don't want to leave my country yet and I'm extremely proud of the way this country has developed and the future possibilities of the US. Trump is a huge black mark on America but 8 total years will not ruin this country forever.
It'll be a long hard road. Democratic institutions have been/are being destroyed and they are difficult for any country to build even in times of consensus. Courts are packed with partisan hacks, some for life, dark money won't stop when Trump stops, and the Democrats are riddled with compromised careerists without the courage or inclination to undo the damage that will have been done.

The Roe v Wade fix seems a precedent as to how things will proceed. Right Wing extremists appointed to courts to do the bidding of billionaire funded interest groups in opposition to the desires of the majority. Democrats put up a moderate in opposition to an extremist and even when he wins, he doesn't undo the fix, because he still believes in the sanctity of divisions of power and thinks that interfering would be attacking them rather than protecting them from the attack they've been under for decades.

Trump's lunacy is the distraction. Whilst we're listening to him babbling about Greenland and tariffs, the Heritage Foundation is reshaping America in it's own image. All the time they've been using George Soros as their very own Emmanuel Goldstein, a group of billionaire families who could buy and sell Soros many times over* have been ensuring that their interests and only their interests are served by American courts and politicians. https://www.desmog.com/2024/08/14/p...nald-trump-jd-vance-charles-koch-peter-coors/

* Soros is 453rd on the Forbes rich list with $7.2b. Koch is 22nd with $67.5b, his brother's widow and family are 21st with $74.2b, Richard and Elizabeth Uihlein are joint 581st with $6b each. Musk is 1st with $342b, Zuckerberg, Bezos and Ellison who were all at the inauguration, make up the rest of the top five. To mix my Orwell metaphors, the 'Squealer' Murdochs at No 87 will be doing everything they can to convince the nation that you have always been at war with Eastasia. (The trouble with Marx was that he warned the powerful what might be coming and the trouble with Orwell is that he gave them a blueprint to follow).

Unbelievable. I was actually making a joke and didn't think he'd actually try and blame the previous admin that left with the economy growing healthily.
Not a great surprise really. He’s been blaming Biden everything else for the past 4 and half years, including various wars, failure to prevent wars, for the group chat leaks, immigration, decisions he hasn’t liked in the Supreme Court, for all his indictments and impeachments, for Jan 6 because he stole the election … why not the shrinking economy?

‘A central dictum in the Trump White House is that Joseph R. Biden Jr. is to blame for just about anything and everything.’

I really think AOC will be the first woman President
I'd love for this to be true but I just can't see it.

Not because AOC isn't brilliant, she absolutely is, but because when push comes to shove vast swathes of Americans will not vote for a woman, no matter how badly their MAGA Cult Leader has trashed their country.

I agree - and also not because I think AOC isn’t brilliant - I have had much respect for her even before she was elect to the senate.

I think the first woman president will be someone more like Gretchen Whitmer the current Governor of Michigan who is much more likely to be favoured by swing voters than AOC who is too far to the left..

I heard that this morning and I have now adopted a similar approach in my married life...

No, this is the best hung out washing there has ever been, many many people have told me I hang out washing the best.
You are wrong, this is a fantastically sized penis, many many people have told me it's the best penis they've ever seen.
The bins weren't out because of what happened 4 months ago when our son was in charge of the bins.
You are wrong because cognitively I score higher than anyone ever tested ever and I'm super intelligent like genius clever.
I'm not sure you really want to be saying this bit to your wife? She may ask for a list of whom has said this.....

The Roe v Wade fix seems a precedent as to how things will proceed. ...
which one, the first or reversal? seems this is a symptom of a problem deeper than today's US politics, long standing judgements not enacted into primary legislation and left to the vagaries of who ever is in office, either courts or President. the use of Executive Orders to govern apparently goes back decades without much pushback. a lot of the DOGE idea was targeting spending that went beyond control of congress, and problems with poliitical lawfare and interference with states and institutions has been a complaint for years. it's why Trump is getting away with it, because Republicans seeing is it as "whats good for the goose".

He said this afternoon that he is planning on blaming the Q2 performance on Biden. Unless it is a complete massive growth success when, guess what, it'll be ALL down to him and his GENUIS :lolol:
