Hassocks
Absolute stroll in the park for Hassocks yesterday. Shoreham player had a bit of head loss early on and reduced them down to 10 when they were already 1 down and to be fair they kept it that way until halftime but Hassocks were always going to run away with it second half end ended up 4 nil winners.

A win against Crowborough next week will wrap it up with 5 games to spare although it'll be tough. Even if they lose they'll need 2 wins from 5 games even if Crowborough win every game until the end of the season (which does seem likely at the moment to be fair). It's put me in a predicament though with the Forest game afterwards, currently looking at watching the first half at Hassocks and taking it from there. It's a shame Crowborough wouldn't agree to moving the game forward an hour or two, I think there would have been well over a thousand there if they had but should hopefully still be a decent turnout. On the subject of Crowborough, if anyone just followed them on Twitter you'd get the impression they hadn't been awarded a free kick all season.
Thought we struggled in the first half a little bit, not helped by a dry and bumpy pitch. Sending off was just stupidity from the Shoreham player...swear at ref to get pointed to the sin bin, immediately swear at him again to get sent off. Made the second half pretty easy.
Similar to you we're planning to do the first half at the Beacon next week and then hot foot it down to the Amex, although if Hassocks are winning I might be tempted to stay there.

Don't get me started on it mate. It's embarrassing at times. Also the snidey comments/pick arguments with other teams does my head in.

But in their defence they aren't the only club that do it. Crawley Down Gatwick twitter account said on Saturday the penalty was questionable when it was all out assault and the sending off (second yellow for the player who gave the pen away) was won by the Crowborough players surrounding the ref.......nothing to do with the fact he pulled the bloke down who was one on one with the keeper so could have quite easily have been a straight red.

Either way good result in the end. CDG aren't particularly a nice club by all accounts. The handful of mongs they brought over seemed more interested in having verbals with people than watching the game and their management team spent more time on the pitch than some of their players chastising the officials. Only goal came from penalty, which wasn't a given seeing as we've missed our last three but Smith sent the keeper the wrong way and stroked it into the bottom right corner.

Second half was very scrappy made even more so by the sending off. CDG never really threatened the Crowborough goal but Crowborough also looked a bit light up top. Finished 1 nil but the action wasn't over. CDG manager rushed on to the pitch and manhandled the ref who finally grew a set and sent him off (second week in a row the opposition manager has been sent off after the final whistle, last week the Roffey manager kicked the referees changing room door). Only negative was in the mele Steve Smith managed to get himself booked and will now miss the cup final.

Seem to remember them getting involved with Roffey the week before as well. It’s a shame mate as at the moment there’s obviously quite a few people at Hassocks keeping up to date with Crowborough on there during games and everyone comments at some of the stuff they write!

For what it’s worth I think you’ll win on Saturday (a few suspensions and injuries atm) but Hassocks have some nice looking fixtures coming up where I’m pretty confident they’ll pick up the two more wins.

Agreed. There obviously you'd expect some sort of bias but sometimes I feel like I'm at a different game. We have a new person doing the social media stuff this season and they don't seem to grasp it's an official account and not a platform to express their own opinions.

Don't think anyone at Crowborough thinks they have a shout at the league. Sean Muggeridge pretty much said as much the other week and speaking to a member of the committee on Saturday his target was to get a second or third spot finish so we get a home game in the play offs. After Saturday I really hope we don't get CDG.

Frustrating season we had a bad run for six weeks at the start of the season where we really didn't play badly in the games I saw just didn't get the rub of the green. Without that it would have been a much tighter run it. That said you've got to doff your cap to Hassocks they've been the most consistent team all season and deserve to win league. Also nice to see a team with a "smaller than some" budget doing it in style.

Worthing
Too early to say that, and if we don't win the league, it's not like we've ever been top for long enough to call it a bottlejob. While last weekend's result and going four clear at the top was euphoric, there was always going to be a long way to go with more twists and turns no matter who we had left to play. Today was just the reverse of last week - we slipped up while everyone else capitalised on that.

Wasn't there today, but by all accounts I've been told was a poor performance against a Welling side who did a good job of dragging us down to their level - not the first time it's happened this season, especially against a side fighting relegation. We'll dust ourselves off for the game in hand we have on everyone else vs Hornchurch on Tuesday and then push on from there.

A few local twats having a go ??

Sort of. Would seem one of the few downsides of Non League Day in this case is it brought out the day trippers from Millwall who wanted to cause trouble. By all accounts our fans reacted well to some incredibly threatening behaviour from this group of scumbags at the station until the Police arrived to move them on.

Its not that far from where Stephen Lawrence was murdered, even a generation on some of the locals appear to be living in the dark ages.

Worthing still losing 1-0 what a time to blow up

Two teams with pub-football level pitches for a team that try and play football the ‘right’ way probably isn’t a blow-up.

3 consecutive home games coming up next, think Saturday will be a much bigger indication of whether we’re imploding or not.

Wandered down to watch Hornchurch the other week and their pitch is beyond horrendous

It will be an exciting finish to the season. Borough have got 3 'easy' and 3 'tough' teams left to go.

Mental that 5 teams still have a very good chance of winning the league and another 2 with an outside chance.

Yep. Massive game against Dorking for Borough next.

I think a point would be a good result. Excluding the Littlehampton result in the cup, Borough are 7 unbeaten and picking up form at the right time whilst others are starting to wither away.

Let's hope Borough and Worthing go up, just like Lewes and Borough did in 2007/2008.

Hassocks 2 Haywards Heath 1

Everything Hassocks touches seems to turn to gold at the moment! Put out a scratch team last night in the Peter Bentley Semi Final at Newhaven, maybe with Saturday in mind, and came from behind to beat HH. Under 23’s and Under 18’s both looking good to win their titles and both in cup finals as well. Could be an absolutely golden year for The Robins!

My arsehole went with that corner that hit the inside of the post. F*ck me :lolol:

With Eastbourne losing, if Worthing can win all their home games and draw their away games then the only team that can catch them is a flawless Torquay. No easy feet obviously, but every team in the league would trade places.

I’m really hoping that Faal not starting has been due to fasting for Ramadan (something @Vatican Citys No.2 Keeper might know?). Temi is a cult hero and a solid option at this level, but unless Mo is fasting then I can’t understand why he’s not starting over Temi. For all his huff & puff, Mo managed more in about 90 seconds than Babeola did in an hour.

Take the points and move on. Next week is massive. A Truro win, along with wins for Torquay & Dorking would leave all 4 teams on 80 points. It’s doing my poor old ticker no good at all.
