I thought he did well tonight, has a bit of quality to make things happen out of nothing.

He’s only played 295 minutes so far for us so anyone criticising him or questioning the signing is being ridiculous. Along with the other new signings, I think he will prove to be a quality player for us.

It was nice to see two positive performances from new signings tonight, with Gruda looking very promising.

Exactly this. Early days, I'll be honest, I'm a little disappointed so far but players need time. I think he will be an excellent signing.

Nah. O’Riley looked shot, hardly surprising as he’s not been able to get the run of games he needs yet. I think he looks very promising.

Thought he was poor again.

Very little pace, just think he’s probably not in his best position, as he seemed further forward with Celtic.

Once again he wandered all over the place, leaving us outnumbered in the middle, obviously got told at half-time as he was more disciplined in the second half.

Early days, but IMO the weakest of all the signings so far.

Judging our central midfielders is borderline impossible, we don’t play with a midfield, Baleba kind of stays in position but otherwise it’s a total free for all. It’s alarming how often the middle of the park is empty, you have a look around and MOR is on the wing, or Ayari is just behind the forwards. It’s little wonder teams break through us so easily.

Yeh still slightly underwhelming, but needs more games. I prefer Ayari at the moment in terms of moving the ball quicker, which is our great problem

To me Baleba’s game just now has declined. The CM boss in the first few weeks, is giving the ball away and in a competition with Estupinan to make themselves wrong side in otherwise innocuous play, gifting counter attacks.

Thought he did well, providing fairly tidy link-up play further back, a few interceptions and some attacking threat, like when he stepped through two defenders and forged a good save from Fleckenson(?), or the long range shot that deflected for a corner. There was one breakaway in the first half when he could've done better, but generally he was good.

This is our style though. Been saying since the first home game of the season when Milner looked completely lost about where to position himself.

It works really well when we’re in total control of the game (first half), and less so when teams put us under any pressure or set up to break quickly, or as Brentford did last night, position their midfield in a row between our defence and attackers to cut out passes from the back easily (second half).

I just accepted the tactical limitations of our manager going into last night’s game, and enjoyed it much more

Yep. Baleba’s athleticism and speed cover a multitude of tactical and positional sins.
We never look far away from being a mess, with potential for the opposition to cruise through the middle.
Take Baleba out, and/or play a better team than Brentford, and the bottom would have fallen out last night.

This is the only identifiable trait of Hurzeler’s football at the moment which is worrying. We run an empty midfield and when chasing a game just keep chucking on attackers hoping that something will happen.

That was borderline comical last night, putting his foot in the ball trying to draw Brentford forward when they had absolutely zero intention of pressing him.

Many of the problems are due to the incoherent style of management and pattern of play thanks to Fab.

I would try Wieffer and Baleba in midfield with MOR ahead of them. He has much more idea if goal scoring. Ayari in contrast just panics and looks like he will miss each time
