Whilst that may be true in the conventional sense, we do seem to be spending this summer as if we expect a large cash injection to be coming our way which will offset that expenditure.

Oh he’s definitely going IMHO, it’s the cat and mouse stuff now as Bloom, Barber and Boehly’s guys thrash out the financials.
Barber and team will do much of the actual negotiation and paperwork, but they’ll be operating within a framework set by Tony, with any ‘big’ decisions (like those in big 8 figure numbers) needing his approval I would think.
Someone please tell him the devil is in the detail.

I think there's a chance he will stay for another season.
It's possible that we've reached an impasse in these negotiations. We want more than Chelsea are willing to pay.
But the ball is very much in our court. We do not need or even want to sell him. He would probably be quite happy staying here for another season in fact, having signed a more lucrative contact, and playing European football as a guaranteed starter. Plus a lot of his buds are here.
I think TB expects them to give in and give us what we want eventually, as they are desperate for a player in his position, and they are also silly mugs... but maybe they won't.

Agree with this, only potential issue is if Caicedo really chucks his toys out the pram but I think he'll sort himself out as soon as he sees the rest of the lads preparing for games and hopefully getting results on the pitch.
Either way we are going to get a LOT of money or we will keep Caicedo.

He may throw his toys out of the pram, but he would be extremely silly if he did. Firstly, didn’t he sign a new contract after the last transfer hiatus? (Not sure how long but I’m sure that it enables the club to play hardball)
Secondly, start behaving like a petulant child and possible suitors will steer clear.
Aside from that, if he continues to play as superbly and professionally as he did from January, and with the Europa League as an additional shop window, the world will definitely be his oyster as no doubt his stock will rise to new levels.

from the players perspective.....at what point do you stop listening to this. Held onto in Jan when Arse came calling, potential held onto in the Summer when Chelsea come calling. The club made noises that he would be allowed to leave. His stock is very high already.
If Chelsea re serious about signing him, I'd be happy with a straight swap for Colwill & Gallagher.
I'd love him to stay but maybe it would be best to let him go as he was promised a move away after the Arsenal deal didn't materialise last season.
