[Albion] IF we had all our current squad plus our big recently sold players where would we finish next season?

So, just for fun. If we had our current squad including MacAllister and Caicedo including a fit March, Moder, Sarmiento, Lamptey and Lallana plus Adingra, Pedro, Colwill, Milner and Dahoud plus a fully motivated and fit Trossard, Cucurella, White, Maupay, Burn and Bissouma where would we finish next season?

As this is just for fun we are assuming all players are happy to be here, fit all season and happy to be squad players.

I reckon 2nd in PL, one trophy and at least quarters of the Europa League.

Could we have Mwepu in there as well?

I don't think 2nd, we were a lot of points off that. But a serious top 4 challenge with those players isn't out of reach.

We'd have a squad – and wage bill – that was WAAAAAAY too big!

Wouldn't be surprised if this question came up on both Southampton's and Leicester's forums when they were doing well. Lets not fall into the same trap and fawn over the 'Ifs' and 'maybes', it seems counter-productive. I'd rather concentrate on who are now rather than what could have been, in some other universe, where we get to keep all our best players... and an immortal Vincente.

Blimey, it's just a bit of fun. I'm not seriously suggesting it could ever or would ever happen.

I'm convinced that if we had (a fit, happy etc)White, Trossard and Bissouma in the squad this past season we would have finished top four. Might have got to the cup final too.

I'm pretty sure Maupay wouldn't get a look-in. Adingra likewise (with Tross to give Mitoma a break). As much as I love BDB, the extra cover of Cucurella in this scenario would mean he'd struggle IMO.

In fact, looking at them to see who would get regular/significant game time, I'd say it would mostly be:

Dahoud (presumably given his pedigree, but hard to gauge effect without seeing him play for us)
Milner (see above)
Tross (rotating in across both wings & a more central role)
Biss (to give Moises a break)
Mwepu - another great option for the rotation in the middle
Lallana - RdZ loves him, so he's def in the rotation in the middle
Lamptey - great option to have if back to his best
White - would get in ahead of Veltman I reckon (just)
Cucu - as cover for Pervis is an issue, it's him or BDB. Sideshow Bob is the better FB for me.

The question mark I'd have is whether having all these guys available would significantly improve the first XI in order to improve our points tally.

Would the better quality squad mean higher performance from better-rested players and better results? Probably.

Enough to challenge for the title? Not for me, Clive.

Top 4? Yessir - it's not like we were far off anyway!

Just avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth, because my mates' brothers' dad is an Allbion supporter and he reckons their all shithouse. We're loose.

But if Trossard and Bissouma are playing, where do the upgrades (IMO) of Mitoma and Caicedo fit in?

That squad could be season-defining...
