Who is going to replace him? Knowing Sky a disabled, black lesbian.
Whoever it is will have to tick all the necessary boxes and contribute towards the show's diversity targets. The best person for the job often no longer matters in modern day Britain.

I’m not sure it ever did to Sky given some of the terrible pundits (Merson etc)

Correct, hence why they sacked absolute stalwarts of the show Charlie Nicholas. Le Tiss and Thommo as how dare they be white middle age men and replaced them with birds who play park football.

My word. Are you going to donate your brain to medical science? I’m sure much of value could be gleaned understanding throwbacks. You could wait until you pass on of course, but you could really do it now, seeing you aren’t using it.

They were shit. It's that simple. The show was stale and needed freshening up. Charlie Nicholas was the luckiest man in football for years in keeping that job. The only surprise was keeping Merson on, should have fully cleared the decks.

Well, yes, it is nonsense - but it may well happen......

Yes, but on the other hand Le Tiss and Thommo were good at ther jobs, and knew their stuff.

Is this a joke?
So who would your 4 be? The whole point was it was meant to be informative but also fun to watch the Mickey-taking between former players and nothing to take too seriously. Tell me you find Sue Smith, Courtney Sweetman- Kirk or Lianne 'TV Teeth' Sanderson informative and I'll seriously doubt your sanity. Lianne Sanderson 'played' for 20 years and notched up 167 club appearances (but astonishingly managed a half-century of internationals) 8.5 club matches per season at that level does not warrant a pundit job. The others on Sky's female roster followed largely the same path. They sacked Rodney Marsh for his Toon-Army (Tsunami) joke because a handful of nutjobs wrote in. I lost a lot of interest then. If this is your thing you can keep it.

This is very much it for me.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a few ex-players who've played at the top level watching some football, talking about it and enjoying each other's company. Like me, they're going to be male and middle-aged. That's just how it is.

At a time when there's a diverse inclusive Football Focus, a gender-referenced Women's Football Show and a youth-orientated MOTDx on the BBC as well as the regular MOTD and Final Score (and I'll happily watch all of them), it would be more than a shame if Sky decided to move Soccer Saturday away from another demographic who've been watching and enjoying the format for years. Don't like the pundits? Don't watch then.

Not all change is progress.

All a matter of opinion, I thought they were excellent and I thought Charlie was the best of them. Trouble is on Sky there is no room for a white middle aged man who is slightly 'laddie' they'd prefer to tick a couple of boxes and have people on it who have played park football.

Society’s norms are a constantly moving target. Different ideas take hold and are lauded as progressive, and they are then followed as the way forward until their flaws become obvious and they are supplanted by other ideas.

However, the people at Sky will know if the show’s ratings are growing or shrinking, and whether that demographic is aging or picking up younger audiences.

Every presenter has their time, Jeff has been brilliant, but has left on his own terms at a time of his choosing. To see the “white male pride bedwetters” here lamenting Sky’s replacements before they know who they are is frankly laughable.
We aren’t the centre of the universe, we’re only part of an overall demographic. While I’m not a regular watcher of women’s football, it’s certainly not park football. To say it is, is just plain misogyny.

I have no idea who is going to replace Jeff (I just hope it’s not the unlikeable Jake Humphrey) but this longing for an 100% white male panel and presenter lineup just reeks of closet misogyny and racism.

Look at the players on the football pitch. We’re represented by players from all round the world. Now look at the stands, in the 70s it was 95% white male, not now. Some of the posters on here need to lose a bit of preciousness. Football can still be your sport with other people enjoying it too.
