It is a shame. Personally, I don't want Boreham Wood anywhere near the football league and I hope Notts County do it. Saying that, Conference playoffs are have a habit of being cruel which could definitely work in the favour of Worthing.

I remember Eastbourne Borough missing out when the final was still the winners of the North and South winners then going up a couple of years later. It is a great feeling, especially if Worthing do it and then manage to stay up.
Me Neither when I went there with Torquay there was an attendance of 742 of which 301 were Torquay, abysmal attendance for National League. Can't blame people though when its £22 to get into the ground there.

Big crowd at Worthing tonight.. How many does the ground hold ?

it's apparently around 4,000 but I've been in crowds of about 2,200 and it was absolutely rammed. I reckon 2,500 is realistically the limit of what it can actually accommodate

Not a dig, genuine question.

Is that good enough to get into the conference?

My understanding is that they've done enough this season to the ground to meet whatever requirements would be needed IF they got promoted

but the ground is at the lower end of those requirements so would undoubtedly need stuff done to it at some point. However it's completely hemmed in by houses on 3 sides so not an easy task

I heard of some vague plans to develop the north side of the ground as there is some room behind the terracing to build into. This is probably the extent to which they can actually expand the ground in a vaguely affordable way and in reality wouldn't increase capacity by a huge amount

My understanding is that they needed a few more seats, so pushed them closer together.
There’s work going on at the West end of the ground and plans for other bits and pieces, but the ground is a bit like Luton in the way it’s constrained by housing.
The only real long term solution to staying there and expanding a bit would be to take over the bowling club to the South and swing the pitch through 90 degrees. That would be hugely expensive, though and therefore probably not achievable.

National League South Play-Off
Worthing vs Braintree Town (today, 19:45)
Winner plays at Oxford City in the playoff semi-final.
Worthing finished 4th in the NLS whilst their opponents ended up in 7th.
Last time against Braintree, Worthing won 2-1 in front of 1,335 fans at Woodside Road.
Can they do it again? Come you Rebels! Expecting a massive crowd.

I think ultimately the national league is their ceiling, they would struggle to compete in that league IMO.

I knew it was tough but this is a proper hinderance. Even worse when you see it from this picture: https://goo.gl/maps/j5XqnbsxC1vviQ4CA

I guess the National League is about as high as they could go before having to look for a new ground.

May be a bit naive of me but thoughts on Worthing's play-off hopes?
Braintree (H)
Oxford City (A)
Dartford (A) or St Albans (H)
Can Worthing do it? Or are there some teams in there which look too strong for this Worthing team?

Oxford City are looking strong IMO, and seriously going for it as they don't want to be in the NL North next season, if projections are correct. St Albans always seem to win a ridiculous score line like 4-3 so there's goals there. Dartford would have finished top, just unlucky they were in a year that Ebbsfleet threw everything at it. Worthing are a decent side but I always have questions over the defence for them, they'll have to outscore the others.

Anyone recall Goldstone north stand when Worthing fans would gather one side and Eastbourners the other and charge each other sometimes? I wonder how many Albion fans are from Worthing area? Is there a study anywhere that's been published how many Albion's fans are in each town area? I seem to recall long way back we had lots of fans in Horsham area. When I travel to Falmer from LA there are certainly far more BHA thank Port5cumouthy fans if we ever play at home on same day.

Who owns the ground ? Must be worth a fortune for redevelopment
Looks like to redevelop, bowls club would have to be included for access. Maybe they would be like Preston bowls club in Brighton who have turned down big offers because members didn't want to relocate
