Ex player from the late 60s/early 70s, went on to manage here and in the US before becoming a ‘full time’ Christian, died at age 85.

I vaguely remember him doing a Christian based talk at Bishop Hannington once.

Edit - I heard of his death verbally, even Wikipedia doesn’t show it yet! But Leeds United now have a tribute posted:

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
Willie Willie Willie Willie Willie Bell! Great player. I remember bumping in to him at Euston Station on the way back from Rochdale in 1972.

I knew I remembered the name and with that nudge I've remembered him under Freddie Goodwin.
He went on to become Goodwin’s #2 at BIrmingham City and took over when Goodwin got sacked. After a difficult start to the 1977 season he was replaced as manager by one of the directors …….. Sir Alf Ramsey!

Brave of you to post an RIP thread on one verbal conversation!
I seem to remember somebody ending up with egg on their face after the premature news of Sir Norman Wisdom's death.

No - I did check it out before posting! My ‘source’ is pretty reliable on such things too, but fair comment!!

Great player for us. I really liked him. Aged 85. I feel a bit old reading this, but hey ho, it's not about me. RIP Willie.

Remember being thrilled at the time when we got him. Played some good games for us. RIP
Oh yes. With schoolboy enthusiasm (well I was a schoolboy) I thought "Blimey! We've signed Willie Bell! I've heard of him!"

85! Time flies. I was expecting to read he'd died tragically young.

RIP Ding Dong.
