Good l hope that he is p***** off, there is only one way to regain nis place in the team, and that is to work harder on the training ground and impress the manager.

Every player no matter how good, needs a warning shot across the bows from time to time. He'll be back soon enough l'm sure.
Yes, agree. Genuine competition for that place for the first time now in ages.

I was busy drinking at the time but saw a comment mentioned on Twitter that apparently in the keeper warm up there was apparently an “incident” between Steele and Sanchez. Sometime on the lines of Sanchez dropping a ball and Steele giving him a look / or a gesture. Apparently Sanchez looked pissed off but that could well be mistaken for his mannerism broadness?

Did anyone seem such a thing?

Does Sanchez have any kind of other facial expression that isn't a default of annoyance / pissed off / simmering defiance?

The only observation I had during the warm up was that Sanchez did very little and by the look off his body language was decidedly pissed off

Sanchez is almost a certain starter Sunday and we should feel blessed that a keeper of his quality is the back up who gets his game time in the cup. RS has been fine most of the season and if anything the biggest criticism from me is he's too laid back which a bit of healthy competition will address. In fact if Sanchez doesn't start Sunday his time is almost certainly over with us as will pretty much be a signal that RDZ isnt going to give him an opportunity to win back the shirt.

Jason Steele was immense last night and made the shirt his......IMO
Very impressed with him so far. Made a couple of big saves last night, collected crosses calmly, and his distribution and play with the ball at his feet was top notch (except maybe that last minute scare).

It's been 4 consecutive games that Steele has played, away at Stoke in the cup, and 3 PL games that have yielded 2 clean sheets and 7 points.

Grimsby on Sunday which is followed by the international break will be only the 5th game Sanchez hasn't been picked for. It's hardly a 'his time is over' situation missing 2 cup games and 3 league fixtures.

If he can't handle 5 or so games out of the side, then perhaps sadly his future does lie elsewhere.

It's an immaterial argument as Sanchez will play.

How soon is now?
Ha. I don't think it will ever be comfortable for any of us. Your brain might tell you that it will be profitable and over the course of a season it will, but it feels like watching your kids trying to cross the A27.
It can be uncomfortable watching at times, but as yet we've not conceded from it. If we suddenly start leaking goals, and teams work out how to consistently negate it then I can't see us changing(for now)

Yep, strangely until very recently l didn't think that we had a back up keeper in the squad who was strong rnough to challenge Sanchez. How wrong l was.
Yes Steele’s progress has been incredible. From 3rd choice behind Button and a laughing stock at Sunderland, he’s looked terrific.

I’ve been telling anyone who cares to listen that we’re going in big for a new no 1 this summer. After last night, I’m not so sure.

There are still doubts. He looks a bit lobbable to me. But he’s answering questions as they are coming up. He’s indisputable no 1 now. He’s seen off Sanchez, for good in my opinion. His next job is to persuade RDZ than Tony can keep his wallet in his pocket as far as keepers are concerned this summer.

I think it's less about the number of games, which is going to increase, and more about the public comments about style. That's why I think we'll part ways in the summer.

Or Forest Green. Made his pro debut against us at Blundell Park. Could tell then he was gonna be alright.
I was at that one - very dodgy backpass own goal. FGR won 2-1? Said at the time I thought he looked like a beast due to him clearing out a few when collecting crosses.

It was 4-1 (to FGR), regrettably. Our goal a pen that Sanchez had no chance of getting to in fairness. It sticks in my mind how cool he looked for a kid making his professional debut - not surprised he’s gone on to play in the Prem (although slightly surprised that he finds himself behind Jason Steele currently).

Many, including me, have been guilty of dismissing Steele's signing as a lazy backup option but of course the recruitment team will have applied all of the same analytics to his play as for our more esoteric signings.

The plan has got to be hold out a couple of years and for Rushworth to come in. The kid looks immense.
